2010: I found out yesterday that the teachers and staff or not going to do anymore repairs at the old sandy union high school here in sandy oregon and the classrooms are now way over crowded do to teacer cuts so now the classrooms have 45 to 50 kids in each classroom with one teacher in them and there is one classroom with asbestos exsposed in it and only one window open in it! If the school district wanted the kids to stil go to the high school they should keep the old school in repair! But they decided not to becuase the new high school will be open in august 2012! this is not fair to the kids going to the old high school now!

The staff, including teachers and counselors, are very supportive and go out of their way to help the parents and students as much as they possibly can.

I'm attending Sandy High School this year, and although I can give nothing but praise to the school's administration for doing their best with an inadequate building, the fact is that Sandy High School is vastly underfunded. Several parts of the school are reaching 75 years in age, and the school is also suffering from mass overcrowding. The roof leaks, tiles are hanging off from the inside of the gym's ceiling, and the school's design makes it vulnerable to security breaches. Once again, I praise the school administration for doing the best with 2nd rate materiels. The majority of their teachers are above parr, and the school's newspaper is notable for its lack of school controlled content. But no matter how good a car's driver is, he's still driving a Yugo.

I graduated from SUHS years ago and swore I would never send my kids there. Well, unfortunatly one goes there now. I love the town, but the school needs major help. It is over crowdedx. Wonderful town to live in, just bad schools.

I am a current student at SHS it is a great school, and I would recommend it to anyone! the teachers are great here as well as the administration, The Sports and extracurricular activities here are also very fun and exciting. Although the only downside to the school is that it is extremely crowded and the 1500 students and staff are out growing this building big time! but it is still kept in good condition, and under good discipline. so in general this is a great school to got to! GO PIOS!

I had an extraordinary experience at Sandy High, and would recommend attending it to anyone. It is in a very safe environment, and surrounded by an agricultural community. Their sports teams are spectacular, of which I played on year round. I will admit the education is not tuned towards preparing the average student for an Ivy League education. Although an Ivy League candidate must challenge him/herself to exceed in the advanced courses that Sandy offers. My brother and I both succeeded at this and even coming from a lower/middle-class family we attended Ivy League schools on full ride scholarships. Sandy High is what you make of it, because it has as many, if not more, opportunities than the average Oregon high school. I highly encourage anyone already there, or planning on attending to take full advantage of the Sandy High experience.

We have had two graduate from Sandy High recently. I found the level of education at SHS to be typical of most oregon public schools. I was very satisfied with the safety, extra activities and sports. Academically, it is entirely possible to graduate with honors and even attain valedictorian status and still maintain a normal and social lifestyle if the student is a dedicated learner and self motivated. Preparation for Ivy League college was terrible. Preparation for Oregon Universities was fair to good. For the good student who seeks challenging courses, the opportunities are there, but not in abundance. I would recommend SHS to anyone moving to the area, with the caveat that students strive for a high gpa in advanced placement classes. The School suffers terribly from overcrowding and this will not change until the community approves a new high school builing. Parent involvent was excellent. Art/Music/Math/Science/Shop excellent

I am a parent of two graduates of Sandy High School, and one current student at the school. My children have received a quality education in sciences, english, and mathematics- as well as excelling in the advanced placement and college credit classes. Teacher interraction is phenomenal, seemingly to truly care and want their students to excel, and take their education to the next level. With a small school feel within a large institution, activities, and clubs are well advertised, so that all students are encouraged, and welcomed. My children have all played sports for the school, and succeeded as academic allstars. This was done with the help of local scholarships. Also, musically they have participated in ensembles that won national awards. Both have attended colleges, and won numerous scholarships with true academic quality based on their excellent education at SHS. Variety is the spice of life, curriculm enriches and expands knowledge,SHS does it well!!
