I love how this school teaches kids according to their ability not age or grade. They also know all kids that attend and are caring and respectful to each and every one.

I think Tangent is a great school overall. The children have great teachers and a safe environment. The staff really care about them. The children work hard with fundraisers that have brought in lots of money that have purchased things like a new sound system, library books, computer equipment, alpha smarts, and most recently they will be buying smart board technology for the classrooms. Each year the Otter beach end of year swimming is purchased through PTC funds and the fieldtrips that the kids go on along with many other things that are not always talked about. As with any school things are not always perfect but the principal, staff and kids try hard to make Tangent a positive learning environement for all. Envolvement by everyone is necessary though to make good things happen. Are you involved?

I volunteer at Tangent School. I observe a dedicated group of educators who work very hard to provide students the best education they are capable of in very crowded classes. I don't think the general public realize how much teachers donate in both time and material. As far as the fund raisers, who do you surmise gets asked more than anyone to buy a candy bar, pledge a dollar so on, you bet the Teachers and Staff. The students overall seem to be learning in a clean cheerful environment, which is a direct result of the entire staff, which I find to be exemplary.

1. Good teachers, 2. A well-intentioned but often misguided principal, 3. Minimal parental support. A few parents do the majority of the work. Until that changes (and the demographics don't suggest that will be anytime soon) this will be little more than an adequate school.

I have to wonder where the mony goes when it comes to this school... the kids do so many programs to earn money yet they do not see much from their efforts. Teachings at this school are great though. Teachers take the time to help the childre and I love that its not as over populated as alot of other schools.
