New Year's Resolutions

It is that time of year when we all look back on the year we have had and get ready to make our lists of promises to ourselves about how we are going to improve in the new year.


Yes, I am talking about new year’s resolutions. We all know the old stand-bys such as losing weight or quitting a bad habit.


This year I propose that we concentrate on bettering our families not just ourselves! For my resolution, I want to bring my family closer together.

The only resolution I ever made and kept was the resolution to stop making resolutions (sometime during college).

We tend to focus on self-improvement/regrouping when the need is apparent, but I know many people love the idea of resolutions.

If my kids ever came to me, I'd encourage them to commit to something that is doable--and that doesn't entail losing 10 lbs., quitting smoking, and establishing world peace all at once. :)

my husband and i have been ask by our kids to make a newyears resolution,they would like use to quit smoking and we have agreed to it so i hope for us and their sakes we can live up to their resolutions.

I have been successful in that I DO eat less chocolate. Taking my daughter somewhere new AND fun once a week has been tricky in that finding a new place isn't always do-able. But we have been doing something fun at least once a week.
As for date night... suffice it to say that it does happen.

I'll have to think of mine for this year. I like Sbozarth's resolution to bring her family closer together.

Debrasuefitzge, I really hope you do quit smoking. It's a gift that you can give yourself and your loved ones. It's not easy (I confess I was once a smoker) but you CAN do it. I'll be rootin' for ya!

Mine is not to take anything for granted. I will be more grateful for running water, bathroom, food, great health, and my immediate and extended families.

Debra: Your good attitude will see you through. Keep on trying and never give up. The worst thing is to stop trying.
Join a support group and check out the benefit of throwing the habit out of the window. Is it your freedom, or adding more years to your life, or saving time and money, or having new friends, or helping other people quick the habit. Keep on trying. Yes, you can!

thanks 1sermen,i want to do this for me but also for my kids they hate smoke when i do smoke i go outside they dont want it anywhere near them even my 4 year old said moma please throw those she calls them cigamarettes away.so me and my husband for 3 days now have stopped i think we can give it up completly.thanks for your advice and happy new year to you and your family.

This 2009 year for me will be better.as I said 20 yrs. ago I will loose wait when I stop going over my mom and sister house,and we all know that won't happen this year. I said I would walk more and I just bought a new ride. I can't exercise because I live upstairs in an apt. I have to eat because I have to stay heathy and work less.(smile) this year I will gain instead of loseing.
Another happy new years resolution for me.lol I make just enough to pay bills,eat,and sleep.all extras goes on emergency.

I don't make new year resolutions! Last year I thought I would eat less dessert but that was in March or April, so I won't consider it a New Year's resolution! This year I simply want to be a little more productive tham I was last year, but then again I'll think about it by March/April! :)
