We are a military family that has two children attending LeTort. We could not be happier with the school. The principal has shown strong leadership and has a staff of excellent teachers who are both motivated and dedicated. My children were challenged academically and received an outstanding education this year.
LeTort Elementary has amazing, dedicated teachers. We are a military family with two children attending LeTort this year. My children's teachers are exceptional. They have provided a challenging, safe and creative educational environment. The school faculty goes the extra mile each and every day to make sure every child is learning and encouraged. The principal is young and motivated, he is dedicated to this small school. I interviewed 5 principals in my search to find a good school for my children. After questioning the principal at Le Tort about test scores, bullying policies and teacher experience, I knew LeTort was the place I wanted to send my children. I am very picky about my children's education and I have been extremely happy with Le Tort Elementary. If you have questions, please speak with the principal, he will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
My son has been in this school for 2 years and I couldn't be happier. The worst thing about this school is the parents, so little of them help and the ones that do end up being overworked. I have helped the last two years and continue on helping even with my 60+ hours work weeks. Couldn't ask for a better PTO president Jess..
We have two children enrolled. LeTort has a strong teaching staff that is working very hard to improve the school's image. The wide socio-economic dispersion in the LeTort district lends great diversity to the student body. The relatively low great schools rating is not indicative of poor teachers or teaching techniques. We got the impression on day one that the young principal would prefer parents not offer opinions and restrict their involvement in school activities to child presentations and sports events. That impression was reinforced throughout the school year. Our kids were challenged academically and received a decent education this year. The brick and mortar may be old, but the classroom ameneties are great. The staff did a great job of integrating technology into the lessons. We are very glad our kids got to spend a year at LeTort, but if we were going to be here next year we would enroll them in another school.
Dedicated teachers, diverse student population, not preppy but still academically demanding, Letort Elementary is a very nice mix. A tough-minded principal is probably good for the school as well. Too bad some negative stereotypes still linger in some people's minds ...
LeTort definitely gets a bad rap and I hope as parents we can get this changed! LeTort is a great school and I only wish my children could finish their elementary education there. Unfortunately, because we are military, we are moving away.
As a member of the community, I have worked in a variety of different schools and different districts. I can truly say that LeTort Elementary School is the BEST place I have ever worked! We are a small school and that provides us with so many oppurtunities for our children. I can honestly say we have one of the best teaching staffs around! Every teacher at LeTort Elementary comes to school with a great attitude and wants to do what is best for thier students. There is not one weak link in the chain that stretches from Kindergarten to 5th grade (including the non-traditional classroom teachers).
Outstandingly caring, effective, and happy staff make this school great. The teachers are counselors work very hard, and I always feel like my kids are getting personalized attention and careful instruction. Teachers genuinely like and enjoy working with each other, and the students. Some of the kids in this district don't get much academic support at home, so I really admire all the effort the teachers put in. My kids like going to school there, and the older building has great charm and character. Academics are solid, and test scores are good. Parent involvement? Relatively few, but committed.
As a Military family, we have been extremely satisfied with LeTort Elementary! Granted our child is only in First grade, and we only have two other schools to compare it to, LeTort is by far the best. The teachers are great, and try to work with each child individually. The Principal is very welcoming and encourages parents to come to the school and volunteer. We feel it is a very family friendly school and we have always felt welcome to just drop by or stop in and have lunch. We are sad to be moving away this summer, we hope that we find another great school at our next duty station! It was a true delight to send our child to this school, she has learned so much and has grown a great deal while attending LeTort!
Initially I was weary about sending my child to LeTort, but as the school year is coming to a close, I am thrilled to see how much my child has grown and learned this school year. The teachers are amazingly dedicated and go above and beyond repeatedly. There are also a core group of parents working to improve the school community.
