As a staff member at King's Highway, I want to share about the awesome support parents give to the King's Highway School. Not only does King's Highway strive to excel in the academics, but there are a variety of activities for students to take part in that are supported by parents and the PTO: Field Trips, Art Club, Fitness Club, Girls on the Run, Scouts, STAR Reading Club, Reading Olympics, Spellilng Bees and more. This school is well supported by a caring PTO where parents can and do get involved and make a positive difference.
As a parent of King's Hwy. School, I have one child that has completed k-5th grade and a second child who is currently attending KHS. I personally feel that I could not hand pick better teachers for my children. Our family has experienced great teachers, staff, PTO and parent involvement. My children have received an excellent education and have been very happy at KHS. This school is nurturing with the proper discipline which contributes to the success of the students and KHS.
my kid goes to kings highway elemantry school. she had trouble at every else school but this school made her get a and b
I had 3 daughters attend KHS. The last one just moved on this year. I had nothing but awesome, dedicated teachers for all three of my girls. They love to visit KHS and talk fondly about the many friends they have made and teachers that have touched their lives.
I have noticed 'clicks' between teachers & parents --at least in my child's class. My child's teacher picked the same 2 parents for each field trip. I found it ironic that they were 'friends'. At many of the functions we attended, not 1 time did my child's teacher come up to us or my child to say hello. I also found it ironic that other parents shared similar opinions regarding the teacher's personality --'a drill sergent'.
I am a bit disappointed in my experience with this school, thus far. My child is in k-garten. I heard nothing but raving reviews of this school and of the teacher she has. Her teacher is 'old-school' and runs a very 'tight ship'. I think she's been doing this job for way too long & should retire. I think their focus is too much on academics (in k-garten) and not enough on the social aspect of it. My child is on the shy side. They only get 1 recess a day and no down time. I found in other schools, they give their k's 2 recesses, with play/choice time & quiet time. I do need to comment that the new principal is awesome. I think he is doing wonders for the school and I give him much credit. He's easy to talk, to as the teacher we have is not.
Both my children have attended Kings Highway Elementary School, and I have been very happy with it. I love the country school feeling and friendly environment. I am very pleased so far with the new principal and where the school is headed in the future.
Great environment. Recently celebrated 50th anniversary. Great community spirit.
For the most part I have been very happy with this school as a whole. The teachers are wonderful. I do however have a problem with the emphisis that has been placed on perfect attendence in this school. It is very damaging to a child who may have a medical problem and can not help that they have to miss school. They have placed to much stress on these very young children to have perfect attendence and in return are having more absences due to children coming to school sick for fear of getting in trouble.
My son spent 3 years at Kings Highway Elementary. I have nothing but praise for all of the teachers and staff. Christopher will be graduating this year(2003) and I just pray that the next school is just as committed to making sure that no child not get left behind. To the principal, I would like to say that he does a wonderful job of letting the child know that they are important also. Mr Carter(principal) would play chess with the students and challeng their minds. Thanks for a job well done. I know it's not easy to do a good job,and not get noticed. But believe me, your noticed. Thank you again CRYSTAL ALLEN
