We have been at Kutz for 3 years and love it! The principal is caring and listens. And while we may have had an issue with a teacher or two, problems are addressed right away1 We had a potential bully issue and the counselor and teacher were involved immediately and an intervention was set up between my son and the student to see how they could work it out. I was quite impressed. Many teachers are right on with email and respond daily, which I love that way of communication. Some teachers have let me know if problems before I was even aware and talking with me about solutions. My son is very happy overall and so are we! The school's Home & School Assoc is VERY active and there are tons of activities always going on to be involved in - kids and parents. I was leery going to public school after private but cannot say enough good things about Kutz, its staff and its community! It is caring and nurturing. My son is thriving in this school!
It is true that there are a few bad teachers at this school, as there are at many. Good luck to anyone trying to raise a classroom or teacher concern with the principal or "support" staff, as their practice is to close ranks, tune out and place the blame elsewhere, even if it means the child suffers. On separate note, standardized testing is all-important and a child's individual needs and potential are of less importance than their ability to test well.
The math teacher in 6th grade doesn't seem to like to teach. He reviews the work and when the students try to ask questions he either yells at them or tells them he already went over it. I agree that he doesn't get them ready enough for middle school ready math student. The 5th grade math teacher is very good, though.
The teachers here don't teach math very well in 6th grade. They seem to llack the procees of turning a elementary school kid into a middle school ready kid. The afterschol activities are limited. Not that great, could be better
This is a school where if your child fits in and is not bullied, you won't have any problems. The principal is very stubborn and very authoritarian. If your child is bullied, you might want to sell your house and move to a different school zone like we did. Have heard both positive and negative from lots of other parents. Again, if you are passive and don't care if you get 'patted on the head' regarding your concerns, this school might suffice for you.
it is a great school ,great education, its a lot of fun .
