General McLane is a great school. Opportunities for extracurricular activities abound in intellectual, artistic, and athletic arenas. Teachers are respected and valued by the School Board, the Superintendent, and administration; as a result, they are motivated to do the best possible job as educators. Edinboro is fortunate to have a community that supports education to such a high degree.
General McLane is a great school district. The money for the turf was raised by the foundation, not by the school district, as they donated towards it as well. It was a community effort. As for the web interaction, I just attended an open house and was told about the plan for Wiki pages for all of the teachers. It is currently being used by a number of the teachers. I can also say from a parent of a child with a learning disability, the planning this district does for it's students is fantastic. His previous school left him so far behind and General McLane has helped him tremendously. I also have children in the accelerated track at the Hign School, the classes are challenging and the teachers approachable. Edinboro is a great community with a lot of spirit and pride. It's a great place to raise a family.
I'm very disappointed in this school district. They seem to focus more on sports then they do on academics. Money was spent this year on new turf instead of investing in an interactive web site so that parents can be updated daily or weekly on their child's progress and interact with the teachers. It seems that most other schools have this program set up already. I'm also disappointed in the High Schools counselors as they have yet to help my daughter take the classes needed to graduate and go on to college.
Great school. It has good teachers and a nice place for a family.
