My son came from a private school and this school is just as good. I am glad to know that I can still count on a great education from a public school. One thing I enjoy is the ability to communicate with the teacher weather email or phone, and getting a prompt response. The school website is eassy to navigate and has all relevant information.

I love Hershey Primary Elementary School because they are always working to improve. They are not satisfied with just making it, they want to develop young boys and girls who are independent, secure and social. They know that music, arts, nutrition, activity and strong families all work together to provide a good education for children. I'm proud to have my children enrolled and look forward to many years of working together. Keep up the good work!

Although my son didn't have a great experience last year in 2nd grade, his teacher this year is ideal. Very focused on positive feedback and is working diligently with students to increase their level of responsibility. Has built in allowances for mistakes, but has great accountability. Classroom is very pleasant atmosphere and my child is happy and learning!

This school is state of the art. It is a beautiful facility with top of the line teachers. It is amazing to see students in first grade writing stories and working with fractions! Parent involvement is appreciated and there is never a shortage of parents to help in the classroom.

Three of my children have attended this school and I can't say enough good things about it! Children are encouraged to expand their minds in all disciplines from the very start. Parental involvement is extraordinary. The core philosophy of the school seems to be: never underestimate a child's potential. The children feel loved, nurtured and respected.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing, science and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.
