I rated this School purely on the academics. The Kids that go to the school are spoiled, snotty and have their little "cliques" to which new kids entering have a hard time adjusting & making friends. These kids need to realize that Mommy and Daddy didn't always have money to throw away on them, they actually had to work & probably still work very hard for the money they earn. They should all be charitable and hospitable when they see new kids come in and make them feel comfortable & accepted. No-one knows what others have been through in their lives, but to be a good human, you don't need money, you need heart, a good personality and a good and gracious attitude. Don't push good kids away just because they are new or different or YOU don't think they fit in to YOUR standard or class of people, help lift them up, not bring them down, besides, it's not YOUR money that makes YOU any better than anyone else, it's your parent's money and you all should learn some appreciation & humility for being blessed to have more than most, but I promise you, no mater how much a family has or hasn't, you can bet they are hard working, responsible have good values & teach that to their children!

I am current student and this school is the best. Everyone thinks that we will be snobs as we go to Hershey but it is far from it. We have great education, sports and clubs, but we are only a public school-we still have some problems. Not horrible ones that usually make the news, just normal ones - some teasing, bullying, the usual. People who move here are accepted quickly and easily as other people move away. All in all - GREAT school.

We were new to the district in 2007. I chose Hershey SD because of the amount of new students here. Both of my children were welcomed by other students and found new friends within a few months of starting school. The teachers are good but no better than in most suburban schools. There are great choices in classes and extra-curricular activities including both sports and the arts. Because many of the students are competitive and want to attend a very good college, it can be hard to get a spot in some areas like the musical. (Often impossible to get in your freshman year)

School has excellent teachers, however it is crowded and social behavioral issues are a big challenge as governance is a big issue.

As a student at HHS I notice that personal popularity status is very highly valued among many of the students. I moved here a while ago, and was kept away from most other kids in terms of social life. On the other hand, the level of education and related activities is very, very good. Having been in multiple schools (from moving), this is probably the best school I've been to educational-wise.

Hershey High school offers academic programs that meet the needs of all the students whether they are gifted, regular education or special needs. Each student is paced according to his or her rate of academic succcess. Both of our children graduated from Derry Twp school district and now our granddaughter is graduating in June. Our children said they felt they were well prepared when they went of to college. One went to Lebanon Valley College and the other went to Carneige Mellon University. Currently, our grandaughter is a senior and is taking two classes at Lebanon Valley College in conjunction with her high school courses. She has been accepted at Shippensburg University for the2007-08 school year. As far as extra curricular activites, there is an abundance of clubs , sports, music and art. The music program is outstanding. Most of the parents have high expectations for their children and therefore are very involved.

Extraordinary school for the college prep student. Not so good if your child's favorite class is shop (they don't have one). Absolutely terrific district to grow up in, tougher to assimilate for newcomers that don't fit the prep image. Outstanding emotional support program for SED students, but an uphill climb to get a student so classified. Knowing how to ask for what your child needs and being politely and firmly insistent go far.

The academic proram at the Derry Township School District (Hershey High School) is one of the best in the country. It's a very expensive district to attend, but the education makes it worth it. Cliques are noticable in the area of sports. Though the school ia place of learning for all, the sports arena is not. Although parents are always invited and welcome, this aspect seems never to be addressed. There are many programs for the students to get involved in from K thru 12. If your child is interested in music or the arts, this school comes highly recomended. Our son is a 2005 graduate of the Hershey High School and we are proud he attended this school.

The sports programs seem to be lacking in organization. They don't have an established 'feeder' program which would enable the high school programs to be more competitive in their divisions. We feel that the academic programs are well above average. They are challenging and there is very good communication from the faculty to the parents. They have extensive student support programs for their academics.
