I'm a former student at Moshannon Valley and there is no heat at all. About every week there is a fight or lock down.. Police are usually at are school every week. As for teachers.. They don't care what you do and they don't help you when you need it. All essays are done on computers and not hand written. When kids misbehave all the teachers do is say stop and don't do anything else about it... They're more worried about sports and how the school looks then are education.. The books are outdated and old.. Must don't have a cover or back on them. Pages are ripped out and scribbled on. In some classes you can't even get books cause we don't have enough for every student.. I would never send my kids to Moshannon Valley for school.
Moshannon Valley should be shut down until they can provide an education that is up to par. After graduating from this school i had to take 2 developmental math courses just to start my college education. The teachers don't care and the books are outdated! Something needs to be done.
Moshannon Valley is not a very good school the teachers don't care about their work and they don't help you when you need it. They allow bullying and fights in the halls and classrooms. Basicly if you don't play sports you won't go very far. The building is in bad condition and has no heat, the books are old and out-dated. Mostly we work on computers instead of papers, it wouldn't be so bad but we are givin little or no instruction.
I have watched many students and parents suffer from the things that go on at this school. The people who are there to help do very little to help if anything at all. I agree with the fact that things being fueled by money at this school. I also know first hand the book shortage is true. The construction is over and no longer an issue. I also think that discipline in most cases is not handled well at all. Teachers are able to say and do as they please and students suffer very much with discipline students are pushed to there breaking point. They are people to and they also have a limit on how much they can take. Mariel Kephart former student and now parent
I am a student at Moshannon Valley. Some people say that it is a good school but I have to disagree with them. The school is more interested in how it looks and what is around it then the students being taught. The teachers don't want to be there so why should the students have to go and deal with them! As for heat, there is not a single warm room in the school. every romm is very cold! They need to get heat and make sure that the students are getting a good education than to spend their money on items that we don't need! Out books are very old, falling apart and are very limited. Usually, it is a first come, fisrt serve deal with the books becasue there isn't enought for the whole class! The work that the teachers is usually impossible to do!
I am a student at Moshannon Valley High school.Mo Valley is not as bad as some of these parents say.Yes, there is fighting. Kids who really want to fight will find ways of doing it.Most don't care if there is teachers around. Most teachers do care about us (students). They try to teach but alot of students don't want to learn and don't try.My learning experience doesn't get stopped by the teachers showing lack of care, but by the students who don't care.Instead of sitting there for others to learn, they cause disruption. With the sports program issues, students love sports. So what if our teams don't win?People in our community put way to much pressure on athletes. The construction is over.As for the books, they aren't that bad. Some, yes, they are horrid but most aren't.I have nothing bad to say about Mo-Valley except there is way too much drama. But it is like that everywhere.
As a parent with children at Mo-Valley I am disgusted. With the exception of a very few teachers, nobody seems to care about these kids. The books are old, out dated and falling apart. They dump money into sports programs that are not impressive and disregard the need for an academics. These kids are not prepared for college, they are not even prepared to succeed in the workforce or in life. It is very frusterating as a parent. I have made several attempts as a parent to get involved but the teachers and staff make it abundently clear that they don't want parents there if it means that they might be held to a higher standard. Most of these teachers have tenure and are not hard pressed to do their jobs. They put their time in, get paid for showing up and the kids suffer. It's sad.
As a former student and now parent, I am very discouraged by the quality of academics at Mo Valley. I felt far behind other students while I was in college - I simply was not prepared for real academic challenges. Nothing much seems to have changed since then. There are a LOT of teachers with tenure who are burned out and simply should not be there anymore. There are a few who care and who try, but you definitely get the sense that they are fighting an uphill battle with the administration. Athletics are stressed far and above academics, although surprisingly very little is offered for girls. Other extracurriculars are limited and not heavily encouraged. Overall, there's not much to rave about at this school.
Moshannon valley. Actually is a really nice school. The teachers are very helpful, and they give students the attention they deserve. As for the construction it is horrible!unsafe for children!
This school is currently undergoing major construction. The school is extremely dirty. In most of the school there is no ceiling or carpeting. Worst yet, as of now there is still no heat in the school. It is too cold in the mornings for children to be in a place without heat. The school should at least close until they can get heat.
