I was a student at AHP... I have always HATED AHP! The teachers here are very harsh and uncaring. Most of them play favorites too! I was none of their favorites except for my 1st grade teacher, Ms. Timons... then in 6th grade i was a favorite for about half the year. Then my teacher started to hate me. To this day i have no idea why. If you think about it a child would come home sobbing from getting bullied by another kid. Right? well, I came home SOBBING MY EYES OUT because of that TEACHER! He is honestly the worst teacher ever! Oh and 3 of the other teachers hated me!Only one 6th grade teacher liked me and that was Mrs. Daymont. I always had trouble getting along with teachers but my 6th grade experience was just to much. Now i'm going to remember that for the rest of my life! I do not recommend this school what-so-ever! I hate this school so much!
This school focuses more on test scores than the well being of the students. No comfort, almost militant. There may be a few teachers that provide that level, but overall, the school has a reputation for not caring about the students. This seems to come from upper level staff.
I could not be happier with AHP. We moved to the area last year after pulling our kids from private school and I couldn't be happier. I was quite the skeptic when the school year began, but as time went on, it was proven to me again and again that this is where we need to be. Most of the teachers are fantastic and they do seem to really care about the kids. The PTO cares a great deal for the kids and works extremely hard to make sure the kids do have extras. I would highly recommend this school to anyone considering moving to the area.
My husband and I are very unsatisfied at the level of service we have received from Ms. Shoemaker and Ms. Ross at this school. We not only feel like a burder, but they do nothing. We are also very concerned at the way staff treats the children outside of the cassroom, e.g. bus room, recess, lunch, hallway, etc. They use their authority with these kids in a negative way. When I've volunterred at the school, I was at times quite surprised at times the demeanor the teachers took with these elementary children. I also feel there is no easy communication with the teachers. I've had friends from other schools complain about how archaic AHP is. Not happy at all. Even considering going private.
This is a wonderful school with caring and dedicated staff! My children have excelled tremendously in this nuturing environment. Another added plus in addition to the acedemics is all the 'extra' things they do for the kids. GREAT, GREAT school!
I currently have three children in this elementary school and they love it. The teachers are fantastic and they've really instilled a love of learning in my children. The teachers have always been very proactive if they saw one of my kids struggling in a subject, getting them extra help right away instead of waiting until it was a big problem. I would readily recommend this school to anyone!
