There are some particularly bad teachers in Honors level classes. They seem to expect the students to teach themselves. Athletics are staffed by mostly teachers who may or may not have any knowledge of the sport they are coaching. Athletic facilities are an embarrassment. Poor field/court maintenance. No turf. No lighting. Not enough field space and the fields are overutilized. No plan for improvement.

MHS is a great school. They offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities to encourage all students to get involved. School spirit is always encouraged. They provide the perfect balance of work and play for all students. They challenge their students in the classroom but find a way to keep it interesting. For students who struggle in the classroom the teachers go out of their way to provide one on one help. Teachers make their students feel comfortable but still manage to comand their respect. I've seen Strong parent involvement in all sports, clubs and student government. My kids and I have been involved with multiple fundraisers which teaches things about life that can't be taught in a classroom. Most of the coaches insist on community service as a requirement for participating in sports. There is even an educational trip abroad offered each year to interested students. Awesome!

As an MHS student I think the school offers good extra-curricular activities. Many, many students join clubs and almost all are interesting/fun. Unfortunately, the academics are not very stressed. Most teachers do not encourage students, so (we) have to have self-motivation. In my opinion, math and science have the better teachers.

My child is a senior this year and in March of 2005 we had to move our daughter to CSF. Beacuse the teachers could not be bothered to help her with her academics. The teachers were too busy with extra-curricular activities. She has made great strides at CSF. My daughter was very unhappy at Methacton.

My children have been in the Methacton district from kindergarten. We've been very pleased. Both of my children are in the gifted program. The elementary gifted program is pathetic. The children are taken out of their classes and then are responsible for the other work going on in their regular class as well. It's better in the middle school. One of the unfortunate things about our school is that they don't offer foreign language until 7th grade. The teachers are great. Fortunately, we've been very lucky. Some parents complain about teachers but in most cases I think if you take an honest look it usually is the child. Our school district has an incredible amount a parental envolvement. Very supportive community.

As a student of MHS, I would first like to say that this school is one of the best in the area. My time is taken up with several clubs, including Mock Trials and Key Club. Many of the teachers here are extremely skilled and make class fun. There are also many gifted and intelligent students here. Every year there is a play and a musical, which takes up most of one's time. So far, I haven't seen any fights this school year. Hopefully it will remain that way.

As a graduate of Methacton, I can say now that the drug problem is out of control. Teachers don't want to admit that it is there, but trust me when I tell you it is. The more money you have, the more drugs you can buy. Parents...watch your kids. Stay on top of what they do, and don't just blow it off....it's happening, trust me.

Methacton provides an above average education. A good portion of the students are extremely intelligant and of course neglected for it. Teachers can be too preoccupied with the troubled students who are getting into fights, instead of giving the bright students the best education. More recently the MHS seniors have been accepted and enrolled in selective colleges including U.Penn, Georgetown, Duke, William and Mary, no Harvard or Yale yet but its coming. The only problem I can see with the school is the same I see with the students and parents. The school is right in the middle of things, appreciating the advantage of not having to go to Norristown but still pining for big school North Penn status. Everyone is stuck and everyone wants out, but no one seems to be doing anything about it.

My child got into so many fights in this school. The school did not do anything about it. I took her right out. I think this is one of the worse schools.
