We recently moved to the Methacton School District. Believe me this district surpasses the previous school district. The teachers are fantasic. My child is getting a great education. Plenty of great students. Many opportunities. To the writer of the review posted of 7/16/07, most school districts do not have extra curricullar activities for 6th grade.
Plenty of involvement opportunities for kids with sports, music, drama, clubs, etc. Plenty of opportunities for parents to be involved if they want to. Positive attitude throughout the school starting with the adminstration and all teachers and staff. Safe, happy kids who are leaning, too! What more can you ask?
Arcola is TOP of the line. Most kids you know probably hate school but theres no reason to in Arcola. They have great sports like lacrosse and soccer. You can learn to play unique instruments unlike most schools. In chorus and band you get to go to dorney park in 6th and 7th grade but in 8th grade you go to hershey. its great.Their art program is great too.
Arcola Intermediate School is awesome, with all-around great staff and teachers. Kids learn a variety of things, from wood-shop to playing guitar. Some specific staff and teachers can be strict or embarrass you at times, but the kind, fun teachers make up for it. The lunch choices are great, offering healthy snacks and drinks. Students also immensely enjoy the ice cream machine! The school offers lots of clubs and curricular activities including sports, cooking, reading, drama, and even animals. You won't find a better school for your children!
I have a child finishing 6th grade. I am appalled that the 6th graders are not able to enroll in extracurricullar activites. My daughter has to join outside club teams instead of joining in on school activities.
This is a great school. The staff is excellent, and so are the kids. My kid moved here in the middle of the year and the kids were really nice, and he made friends quickly. My son says this is his favorite school, and he's been in 7 different schools. The extracullicular activities are great because there are a variety of different sports the kids can join.
Mediocre at best. Arcola has been a disappointment in almost all areas, from extracurricular activities through academic achievement and support. Even the physical plant is an embarrassment with signage that is either incorrect or falling down to broken doors and poor or non existent snow removal from walkways. It certainly is not an environment that demonstrates or encourages excellence. I think most parents just hope to get through and make it to the high school.
This is a mediocre school that lives on a ten-year old reputation. There is no concern for individual students or parents. The atmosphere is at best neutral, often hostile. Needs a complete overhaul of administration.
I have one child who attended this school. It succeeds only because of the socio-econimic and educational level of the community. The parents take a very active part in the education of their children. At a time in these children's lives when study habits, organization and the relativity of school to life is of utmost importance, this school fails pitifully. Diversity is not reflected in the staff nor is it recognized as a necessary topic in school or life. The administration is pathetic. They have no idea how to communicate with these children or deal with their problems. And at this pre-adolescent time in their lives, they have many conflicts to try and deal with. This experience has not only given me insight into the violence in schools but has totally ruined my faith in the American Public School System. Luckily my 2 other children had positive experiences in the High School so I can only hope this will be the case for my youngest. If I had the resources I would never have let my child remain in Arcola Middle School.
