I love Green Woods because of the environmental educational curriculum, the creativity of its teachers and staff--especially how they provide so much with limited resources, and of course the setting at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education
This school has a fantastic environmental program and the students participate in community events that benefit our entire community
This school is awesome...It sits in the woods to give the kids an outdoor feel. They learn about nature, resources and respect for the world they live in.The teacher's and staff work very hard to show and teach respect for one another,as well as self respect.
The environmental education, the creative and caring teachers, the unususal and lovely natural surroundings.
Our great, dedicated teaching staff, our location on the grounds of an environmental education center, our curriculum with the environment as the integrating concept.
I love the great outdoors and love that my son is learning to appreciate an dcare for our world along with his regular school work!
Green Woods Charter School rocks! We have the best teachers and staff anywhere, and the kids benefit from going to school on the grounds of the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. With the Environtment Integrated Curriculum, the kids learn to interact and to steward this world.
GWCS has helped my family to further our committment to be as 'green' as possible. The school encourages us to do this by printing tips and suggestions to help families reduce their carbon footprint, as well as ways to be environmentally responsible. My children and husband have become recycling fanatics, and on trash days have been known to pull recyclables out of our neighbors' trash. The kids help with our compost bin, as well as our worm bin, and because of their strong science and environmental foundation from GWCS,they describe to me,(sometimes more than I want to know), what's happening inside the bins!
The only environmental school in philadelphia- no to mention its classroom includes 300+ acres of protected land that the students use daily to understand the world they live in!
My son is thriving. He is excited by the location of the school--in the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education. Before school started, Evan said to me out of the blue: 'I feel so lucky to go there. Why doesn't everyone get to go to a school like this?' It has it all: project-based education structured around nature and the environment and phenomenal staff and teachers. The benefits of growing up in a large city and getting to go to school with a constant connection with nature--the best of both worlds. Nothing, in my estimation, could be better for my son.
We love the fact that our daughter goes to the only school in the nation housed in an environmental center. The curriculum reflects its beautiful surroundings and we are proud to have Lillian be at GWCS.
The best integrated curriculum in the state, ah in the US! Great staff! Take time with students and do so much with limited resources!
GWCS has an innovative curriculum that incorporates the environment, the sciences and humanities and the arts into the students' everyday experience - being situated in the midst of 350 acres of conservation land is certainly not a handicap!
Our school is the first and only charter school located within the grounds of a nature center. Our teachers and students use our 360 acres and incorporate environmental learning with their curriculum.
Not only is the school located in a unique setting which makes this school so special, there is a strong community connection between the students, parents, teachers, and staff. I as so greatful that my son has the opportunity to be at student of GWCS and to have a wonderful and unique school experience.
Small classes, attentive teachers, good transportation, a safe environment, a solid and innovative curriculum, and a challenge to our little girl when she needs it. After struggling with a public school in Germantown and transportation issues at a prior charter school, Green Woods has finally made us comfortable with our little girl's education. (Note: classes run through the 8th grade, not 7th; our girl is in 7th grade and in her second year at Green Woods.)
We feel very fortunate that our children will be learning in such a unique environment. I love how they get to experience nature in part of their daily studies. The teachers and staff are caring and treat children and parents with respect.
The environmental focus is outstanding, parents are very supportive, and the teachers are creative and helpful.
