My 5 year old son goes to kindergarten here. I've tried multiple times to get in contact with his teacher with questions or concerns and never once received a response from her (and we're coming to the end of the school year). I'm also disgusted by the amount of junk food promotion at this school. I'm not a total prude, but in one week, we had a homework sheet where they practiced writing about going to Mcdonalds, Wendys, HEB and Taco Bell, as well as a sheet offering a prize if they eat enough Lucky Charms to get box tops, a sheet where they sorted and ate Lucky Charms at school, and they have all the kids hyped up about going to Chuck E. Cheese to raise money for the PTO (which we can't go to and of course he's miserably disappointed about). This is only in one week. They also get candy almost every day, and their ideas of healthy food are lousy at best. When I contacted the principal she was very combative and basically told me that these activities are good for the kids learning and there is nothing they plan to do about it. Essentially she gave me the cold-shoulder-shrug off, and of course his teacher (who I called first) never responded to me at all.

We moved our child to Mazie Gable this year. Our experience has been wonderful. I have nothing but praise for this school and the effort put forth by the teachers and principal. Top notch all the way!

I have only wonderful things to say about Mazie Gable and the staff. My family and I have been in the area for over 5 years now. My children have attend MG ever since our move. Our children absolutely love attending school. They have been blessed with wonderful teachers and a pricipal that goes out of her way to make the students feel they are worth her time. I know this because I devote many hours of my week in volunteering not only in my childrens classrooms but in other classrooms as well. To have a child succeed in school takes not only teachers and staff... but parent involvement. Parent involvement is encouraged. Even if it's once a month that you are able to be in your childs class. Your child will still see that effort of you caring to be apart of their education.

I think this school is average. The principal (Mrs.Dunham) will always stand behind her teachers, even if they are wrong...that bothers me. I have a 2 children that go there-- one being a student who is an excellent easy going student and then another who does well on the learning end, but has ADHD, so attention is sometimes an issue. This school is NOT the school for any types of ADHD or any other types of 'behaviour' issues...they do not know how to address them nor do they do well with them. They will blame the student despite you showing them that the student is doing the best to their capability and that the student as well as the parent need their expertise to help the student get on better. I know several parents with ADHD, sensory, as well as other 'behaviour issues' who are currently seeking out another form of education

All 3 of my girls went through MG from K-6. they all started in the original building and we lived through the building of the 'new' school, completed in 2003. The new facilities are beautiful; the teachers and staff are excellent. Every one of them is willing to go the extra mile for 'their' kids...and in my experience, that's truly how they view them. In addition to my children attending the school, I've worked their as an intinerant OT and volunteered more hours than I count. I've never seen a bullying problem like the one described elsewhere. Not that bullying doesn't happen, but it's certainly been addressed swiftly. Peer mediation as well as teacher/principal mediation are encouraged. The PTO is very active, there are many extracurricular activities. My biggest love in this district is their dedication to art and music. Nope, I'm not a local. I grew up in Philadelphia.

Let me first say that this is the best school my 2nd grader has been to (2 prior) This school thrives on parent involvment. They have lots of events through the year all ran by the PTO.It's the little things that make this a great school, like the school supplies everything needed for the begining of the year, every classroom has a tv for morning announcments. The teachers are very involved in helping the children anyway they can. the very nice principal and guidance councler are always avalable for meetings. This is all I can say for now because its only our 1st year.

We recently moved here from a very good school district and are enormously disappointed with the principal at this school. There is a huge bullying problem between the children that the principal refuses to address for fear of stepping on the toes of the locals who have been there for a while. The area is a mix of newcomers in the new housing and long-standing provincal locals. The teachers are very good and the facility appears to have been updated, but trying to enroll our children and get them acclamated was rough because the principal believes that children are permitted to 'work it out' even when it goes beyond teasing and includes physical attacks like pushing, shoving and real threats. We have since enrolled our children in another school district (at our expense) and we are packing up and moving because this school district doesn't address bullying.
