This is my second year with 2 kids at Rheems, and I am very pleased. The principal is a strong leader, very involved in the classrooms and with parents. I have never before met a principal so involved. Wonderful support system in place for kids who are "at risk" -- they won't 'fall through the cracks' here!! **NOTE: As of 2011-2012 school year, Rheems and all listed elementary schools in Elizabethtown School District are PRIMARY schools, serving students in grades K-3. Bear Creek, a brand-new INTERMEDIATE school, serves all students in the district in grades 4-6. (This site needs to be updated!)

I love this school. The children thrive. There is strong school spirit. There is a strict no bulleying policy. Parent involvement is encouraged. The community of parents, teachers, support staff, children is amazing. It's a happy place to be. Kids are excited to go to school at Rheems. The school is building good citizens for our future.

I have 2 of my children who have special needs attend Rheems and they have thrived because the school follows their IEPs and is very involved in team meetings.

I have children at Rheems Elementary and I have very positive experiences with all 3. The Teachers, support staff as well as the office all receive my highest rating.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing, science and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.
