We moved into the area last summer and our youngest attends York Haven Elementary. We have only been in the school a little over four months but I must say we are really happy so far. Her teacher is so sweet and friendly and you can tell she is very passionate about teaching her students. Also, the principle is very involved, he seems to care alot about the kids. I think this is a really nice school.
Unfortunately, in today's day and age everything is about the PSSA. Last year my child's Social Studies and Computer was put aside for PSSA time. Not too fair. Also, my son came home and told me that the teacher was actually looking at their PSSA tests and telling them wheter or not their answers were correct. Wonder what the PA Dept. of Ed would say about that?
I am a mother of a soon to be third grader. He has bee going to York HAven for 2 years and I feel that the principal is very caring and the teachers are also very concernd about there studentds education.
I just recently moved into this school district and come from a very highly related school (I won't mention names- but it has a habit of lossing kids in the cracks and not caring or being in touch with you. These are VERY important factors!) I was weary about this school. But after a year of being there I am highly impressed by this school and the people who serve our community, our kids in this school. They were very easy to talk with and very caring and helpful. They really cared. So yes, I really liked this school. The teachers were very good (and quick) about staying in touch with the parents. They have tons of activities and parents involved. I was highly impressed with this school. Make sure you find a school that cares about your child and they will be less likely to fall.
