Horrible school. Horrible Principal. No one cares about the kids. Lots of bullying and special treatment for the kids with PTO parents. If I could move or afford private school, I would never have my kids here.

This school should put in more learning. Everything doesn't require an essay. And more after school programs. That appeal to EVERYONE.

Problems: 1. Some teachers at TMS are absent way too much. 2. The subs are unacceptable and nobody is supervising the students. 3. Teachers are using the internet in the class while the children run wild. 4. The rules aren't consistent and bullying is rampant. 5. Lack of athletic after school programs. 6. Detentions do not exist. 7. Some parents don't care what their children do so punishments at school are useless. 8. Supervision is lacking during transition times. Leading to fighting in the halls and outside the lunch room. 9. My child had no field trips or field days last year. Strengths: 1. We did have one ELA teacher who was excellent. I would've sent my child to private school had I known the problems in TMS. I am considering private high school for next year.

Core academics are pretty good, teachers are mostly good. Music, art, etc. are slipping away as new administration doesn't have knowledge of flexible scheduling which allows acedemics and co-curriculars. No sports. Very poor principal/superintendent leadership.

We moved to Tiverton in 2004 and I have found that the Tiverton School System is the best around. My children are challenged and actually enjoy going to school. The staff seems to have a genuine interest in how they are doing in and out of class. There is a lot of homework but in the long run I believe my children will benefit from it. The schools are clean and are in good condition. We have not had any experiences with bullying or inappropriate behavior. My family is extremely happy with the Tiverton Middle School.

About 6 yrs ago we moved to Tiverton at the time my kids were going in to the 3rd grade. My wife and I were very concerned since a lot of the locals we had met told us how horrible the school system was. We actually put the kids on a few of the waiting list for some of the areas private schools. Well that was 4 yrs ago and all I have that my kids are still in the school system and are doing AWESOME. The principles in the middle school changed about 2 years ago and it seems to be a change for the better. The current principle is trying to maximize the school day with core curriculum (math, science, la, and ss) which is great. Then the kids have an alternating schedule with classes like sewing, cooking, woodshop, and art.

The quality of the acedemic program is very low. There is no extra curricular activity. Each year they take away more and more. Parents need to get involved more. What about a drama class, or jazz band?

My child is in their second year of middle school. We have had problems with bulling since our child has entered school in Tiverton. However when they went to Pocasset the Principle would not tolerate bulling and therefore the students respected this policy. In the Tiverton Middle School those taking the leads have the same policy but(in my opinion)they are not taking it serious enough to help the students that are having this problem. We have communicated our concern time and time again, but have not received a satisfactory answer. We have look to the outside for help (at our own expence)to get the problem resolved, but the school has not communicated with them in a timely matter. I would like to say that the teachers have been great with the exception of one or two and they have always been very helpful when we have ask for it.

Our child attended TMS for two years. It has been the worst two years for our child. The leadership is poor and the teachers (at least the ones that our child had)leave a lot to be desired. I had attended numerous meeetings to discuss my childs academic issues. All those in attendance expressed their desire in helping my child. However after the meetings those desires went right out the window. For those students that require extra help this is not the school that will give it to them. Unfortunitely this is the only middle school in this town. So if you want your child to have a proper education I would suggest that you research the surrounding towns schools and find one more suitable for your childs academic needs. We are doing that this year. We have no intention of having our child attend this school this year.
