SCHS is top of the line. Yes all school districts will have teachers and board members who are in the profession for the wrong reason but above 90% of the teachers at SCHS are there for the students! They work not only during school hours but before and after school hours and on weekends! I believe those in the teaching profession have the toughest jobs on the planet and get the least respect of any as well. Teachers get the blame when a student does bad even if the student is a low life who would rather sleep in class than learn. I think those of you on here to bash teachers and say your children aren't learning should change the way they are brought up at home and maybe they will have more drive to do good on their own and have more respect for teachers and others.

As a former student at smith county high school, I urge parents to aviod this school at all costs. Yes there are a handful of teachers that care, but they are vastly outnnumbered by the one that do not care about anything but a paycheck and football. I wish that i had went to a good school so that i did not have to work so hard to catch up in collage.

if you are a parent i want you to know that when your child walks in a school nothing at that moment is more important. I also want you to know that teachers and staff most of the time work OFF THE CLOCK. do you think they get paid for ball games? do you think that get paid after 3? i wonder how many parents with jobs work for free just to benifit people who are some times not even thankful they even showed up? there are bad apples in staff im sure but i know there are more problem children than teachers and staff. if parent could get rid of this My CHILD IS GOD complex teachers and kids will get lots more done. Your child may be God at home but hes a student who should know how to behave in public when at school. That should be expected and demanded.

Interesting idea. I'd just want to make sure the students are held to the same standards as regular school kids--including grades, and school time. If a kid can practice all day long, it hardly seems fair he take a spot from a regular student.
