We have a daughter that is going to be a Senior this year and a son in the Eleventh grade. We are very happy that we chose to send our children to Cordova High. The school is new and beautiful but there is much more to say about Cordova High than just the building. The staff and administration at Cordova are very caring and concerned people. The safety and well being of the students is something that we have not had to worry about in the three years that they have been attending the High School. The community is welcomed into the activities of the school and they support and attend most of the activies related to the school functions. I Love this school and its administrationaand staff.
My son began at Cordova High this year and so far I am very pleased. We met with counselors last year to determine what classes he should take and he is going to take the Advanced Academic Classes. My husband and I had thought about sending him to another school in the area that offered more extracurricular activities other than just football. Cordova expanded there activities to football, baseball, basketball, track, and wrestling. We were thrilled. It is a very small school but the kids there are great and there is a closeness about these kids that you can't get anywhere else. I went to a very large school in Birmingham and no teachers knew my name or cared if I went to college or not. It is not like this at Cordova. The teachers know your child and they care about their well-being.
I finished school in 79, but even at that time it was a great school. I just had a daughter finish this year (with a scholarship) to UNA. The teachers have always been a big part of Cordova High. They truly are concerned with the students welfare and that they recieve a good education. Community and parent involvement has always been there. I have 3 other children who are in the Cordova School system and can't think of any other place I would want them. Cordova has always had excellent extracurricular activities. It's just a great place to go.
As a graduate of Cordova High School in 1998, I can say that it prepared me for college and I wouldn't trade my experiences there for anything. It is a wonderful school, the smalltown setting is an amazing way to learn.
