Principal is very rude and has a superiority complex. Other than that the teachers and staff are generally helpful and caring. Teachers are great, admin staff could use some improvements.

School Street School is a wonderful, warm, and caring environment for children to learn. A dedicated staff and administration make sure each student is given every opportunity to reach their potential.

This is a fantastic school run by a very capable principal (who is never rude) as well as dedicated and experienced teachers. I feel that my child has done exceptionally well here for 2nd and third grade and is well prepared to move onto the John Hill and 4th grade. The children have plenty of rec programs to choose from including soccer, bowling, football, baseball, softball, basketball, field hockey and many more. Many of the 'working class' parents are volunteers as coaches who put in much time to make these programs successful.

It's an 'OK' school. Boonton residents consistently vote against school budget increases. As a result, there have been huge budget cuts in the past few years. The Principal is a nice guy; but he can be quite rude when he wants to be. Many of the teachers are young, and there seems to be some turnover. My son had two teachers in Kindergarten, and two in First Grade. We'll see if his Second Grade teacher stays. There are a few -- very few -- extracurricular activities run by the town's Parks and Recreation Department; but you have to pay for them. There are no 'free' after school activities, that I am aware of. This is a working class town; so, there are the normal few dedicated parents -- everyone else is too busy. Incidentally, while the school was vandalized over the summer of 2006, repairs have been completed.

Anything on the weekend is too much. Kids need "family and church" time too! 1 hour a night past the age 10 is fine, 30 minutes or less before.
