I 'graduated' from this school in 2003 after I attended the first 3 years that the school was open. I had switched from 3 different schools within three years-Abingdon Elementary, Forest Lakes, and then Forest Hill. When I arrived, I immediately felt like the teachers were there to allow me to learn the best I can. My third grade teacher allowed me and another student to create our own spelling lists that were more advanced then the ones from the book and then be tested on those words. A I was actively involved in the Student Council, and I was even elected Treasurer in 5th grade. I was a gym helper, an enrichment student, a band member, a chorus member, and the list could go on. I felt like I knew all the staff very well, and I felt like I accomplished a lot for my 3 years of being there.
I absolutely love Forest Hill Elementary for my children. I have twins, and they are in second grade this year. My daughter is having trouble with Reading Comprehension, as well as some problems with Math. I cannot tell you how much her Teacher, the Education Specialist, Speech Therapist, Principal, Vice-Principal, and others have done to help her this year. I have met with these people on three occasions in the past several months, and I can see how much they genuinely want to help her succeed academically. They have already prepared plans for her in third grade to continue helping her. It would take a lot for me to even consider ever taking me children to another elementary school. This is a wonderful school, which has 'so much' to offer children. My husband, my children and I are very happy with this school.
This school is fantastic! My child was in private school, but switched to public in order to have his needs met. The teachers and administration are truly caring and will go the extra mile to ensure your child's success. Learning is geared toward whatever method works best for the children (we all know there are plenty of inflexible teachers out there) and extra instructional help is always available to those who need it. My family couldn't be more pleased!
