Ammon is an outstanding elementary school. The secret to it's warm community feel is simple; an outstanding principal. Mr Keller knows the name of every child, and interacts with the kids all through the day. Test scores only tell part of Ammons story, they could be higher, but Mr Keller has volunteered to host several special needs classrooms at our school. His commitment to each and every child is what makes our school worth more than just the sum of standardized tests.

My son when through some crazy teachers andi know it hurt him, but when I sent him clear across town to Ammon Elem. Not only did the teachers love him they also helped him when ever he needed. The Principle was wonderful to talk to and always lended a helping to all the kids and parents, Mr. Keller and his staff knew all the kids and parents name. Which made this school wonderful for my son and I.

Excellent School! Mr. Keller, principal, is fantastic to work with, really cares about the kids and is very involved. He learns their names and spends time on the playground with them. Extraordinary parent participation is a key to this school's success and sustains quality enriching programs such as FAME which present famous artists, composers and teach music and art concepts, familiarizes children with the great works of modern and historical value. Teachers are very well qualified and there are few times where I have felt I needed to request. Teachers and principal try to put kids with teachers that are best suited to their needs and personalities. Parental input is valued and considered. Mrs. Michael's, school counselor, is very good at helping kids with and without special needs. She teaches in the classroom and in small groups about basic concepts involving such ideas as peer pressure, self esteem, bullies, communication etc.

Teachers who are firm, tough, yet fair, are mislabeled as, "bullies." This is such a ridiculous and false accusation. I got a tough job but I love my job and I care about the students. People don't have a clue what I do or the challenges... More »

How I handled it varied depending on the circumstances. Teacher bullying is child abuse-proove it 1st! If teacher/pricipal/staff won't stop-go above their heads-Seek help from PTO's,administration, schoolboard, media, even CPS-Child Protective Services.

No one should put up with this. Take it as high as you need to go and follow up everything in writing. Even so far as going to your local paper. School A tolerates bullying and won't help children being victimized. They will listen after that!
