My family lived in EG up through 10th grade. I made honor roll every year Iwas eligible to while attending EG schools. We moved to Suffield for my junior year of high school and duringn 11th and 12th grade my grdes were not as high as they were back in EG. Not because I was having difficulty 'adjusting' to my new surroundings. The classes, teachers and lessons were much harder and I felt I learned much more that back at EG high. Suffield actually had a sports program as well. EG had something that resembled one.

What can i say about east granby high school ? It's great in theory but not in practice. You would think that being such a small school would be great for students because the teachers would be able to reach each and every child but the fact is that with the exeption of a few and i mean about 3 teachers, they all hate thier jobs, are spiteful and downright cruel people. If you are thinking of sending your child to this school please do not ,for his or her sake, it could instill a lifelong absolute hate of authority that could destroy your childs future

I graduated from East Granby High a few years ago, and I have mixed feelings about this school. Certain aspects of this school can be portrayed highly positively, including small class size, a safe environment, and a 'close-knit' community. On the other hand, East Granby lacks diversity in its students, with a homogenous, cliquey population. Besides diversity in terms of ethnicity, this applies to the viewpoints and activities of students. Amost exclusively, extracurriculars associated with the school are sports like track and cross country. No political debate, no cultural clubs, no civic engagement. The academics are not engaging; most honors classes are very large and are infiltrated by less intelligent students. There are only 5 AP classes, and these are NOT in the rewarding full-year sciences. Despite a cozy, small-town feel, EG does little to prepare students for success beyond the typical state schools and third-tier colleges, let alone real life.

As a student of East Granby, I have to say that overall its a horrible school to go to. The personal-level that teachers and students have is a great quality, but atleast half of the teachers there do not have any idea what they are doing. The budget is crazy, the food is horrible (yes, most school-lunches are, but when you have to take the one slice of cheese out of your sandwich, because its too costly...come on!). Academically it does NOT prepare you for anything once-so-ever. Most of the kids who live there grow up together, and when faced with a new challenge of switching schools, and not having that closeness of knowing eveyr single person you pass in the hallway, can be frightning. Nobody at this school realizes that there's life outside of highschool, and they are contained (sheltered) from the outside world. Do NOT attend this school.
