I have found that University Park School staff are very student-oriented. They are always seeking interventions so that all students are showing academic growth. Academic growth is important to all students-- those who may be at-risk or those who need enrichment. We do not change programs to just change. It was evident, with State and NWEA reading scores from prior years, that a change in our reading program was necessary. Last year is when we selected Houghton Mifflin with Spalding phonograms as a supplement. This year during review of math programs it was evident from our data noted by PAWS & Growth Assessments' results that no change from Saxon Math is necessary. We have recommended to the Board of Trustees to continue with Saxon Math. We do not change programs to just change but we do monitor and adjust according to our assessment data. Our students and staff are quite proud of our PAWS and Growth Assessment results. We designated the week prior to the window for PAWS beginning as School Spirit Week and a culminating assembly known as 'Strut your Stuff'. Our academic performance on PAWS really displays students' attitudes of 'strutting their stuff'. Our priorities for students are to have a safe environment with literacy in reading, math and writing our top priorities. Inappropriate behavior is halted and a teaching interaction with a consequence given. We believe in natural consequences. We welcome observations by parents so that they can witness the environment of our school. I believe they will be pleased with the active engagement of students and how mannerly they are. Come see for yourself!

This is an excellent school and both of my children love it. The students are held very accountable and learn a great deal in a day. I would recommend this school to everyone.

My two children go to this school and I think it is the best school in town. The teachers try to help every child achieve to the best of their ability no matter where they are in the learning curve. I have one son that is very bright and one son that struggles. Both of my children are getting challenged every day. The teachers care about my children and are very easy to talk to. I had my child in another school in town and this school has really been a blessing in disguise.

I did a long term substitute job for U. P. and must tell everyone that this is a school that is really striving to 'teach' the children and better their school daily. The 'Reading First' program is a fantastic teaching curriculum that I saw progress reach each child. I was amazed at how Kindergarteners were reading! This is a structured school, but also by this, one receives respect. The children are respected as well, and I felt there was a great attempt to understand 'their' feelings. Kudos to you University Park for a job well done.
