I've lived in the district for almost 20 years and my third child is in the high school now, my older two having graduated and gone on to college. My husband, who came from a huge Cleveland area school system, and I (from another Wayne Co. school) have been extremely pleased with the schools, the administration (most recent, I will add), and the teachers; our kids have excelled and continue to. The community at large is supportive and school-spirited; our system is one of the few that is not currently in trouble fiscally. The arts are lacking, though. Overall, we are glad to be Huskies and recommend the schools to anyone.

Northwestern has three schools - a k-5 elementary, 6-8 middle school and 9-12 high school on a nice campus setting with recently constructed or renovated buildings. The teachers, support staff, administrators and students are fantastic to work with and all support one another in a learning culture. The Northwestern is very supportive of the schools and help make this school district special! I would not send my children anywhere else!

In order to better assist students in their academic endeavors, Northwestern needs to provide students with access to AP course, which are imperative for acceptance into some of the countries most prestigious colleges and universities. Furthermore, the school needs to stop discriminating on the bases of class; tracking is detrimental to students and prohibits students in lower tracks from pursuing more enriching academic interests. Overall, the academic program is subpar and students need to demand more from the administration and the administration needs to raise their standards. The music program is phenomenal.

Great academics here. Leadership is strong in the new principal. She expects kids to be responsible and treats them as mature young people rather than younger aged. There are new things happening at the school to get parents in and the teachers seem to really want to help kids. Principal stresses personal integrity and tolerance of others. Students are listened to even though they may not like the outcome because the school is strict on attendance, discipline and dress code. There is a real focus on learning and education comes first even though the sports program is really good.

communication is the key to good relationships...visibility of parents at school and hands on with child all work together...if it continues then address it boldly...seek help

Talk to the teacher, possibly and probably file a complaint.

I would definitely talk to the teacher. You will find that a child's perception is not always the same thing as the "truth" - it is just what they perceive.
