My daughter is finishing up her second year at Zion and we have nothing but good things to say about this school. She attended pre-K with Mrs. Estby last year and kindergarten this year with Mrs. Cooper. Both teachers are kind, yet make the kids "toe the line". Academics are strong and the teachers are very approachable with any questions you might have. They have music, art, computer classes in addition to their regular academics. There are 15 students in my daughters kindergarten class. Our family is non-parishioners, so we do pay more in tuition but we feel the money has been well spent. Parents are encouraged to volunteer/participate with class projects and field trips. My daughter loves going to school everyday and I feel it is because of the teachers she had/has. As for the previous comments regarding the principal, I haven't had any issues with him in the two years we have attended this school. He is out in the hall interacting with the parents every morning when the kids are being dropped off. We would send our daughter there next year but we are moving out of state.

Our family pulled out our children from the school. The principal was the problem we encountered. He was not straight forward and somewhat deceptive, with an odd passive aggressive personality. The school has a lot of potential, it just needs better leadership. So make sure this is someone you can work with before you enroll your children there.

My daughter went from 6th through 8th grade and my son is attending 7th grade this year. My husband and I love this school, it's staff, and it's curriculum. It is worth EVERY penny! (We ARE church members)Small class sizes.(My daughter was one of nine 8th grade grads) Plenty of one on one time for your children.

Zion Lutheran School is great idea which has not yet come to fruition. Senior pastor great guy, associate pastor dedicated & kind. But they don't run the school. Principal operates without much oversight. If you interview here, ask about retention. If they don't have that info, ask why not. Non-church members pay more $, have less pull. Some teachers great, others see asking for help as sign of weakness. Many teach 2 grades at once. Your student's grade gets 50 percent of her time. Already enrolled? Use email system and get everything in writing. Parents, kids are great. Why hasn't this school grown? Lack of leadership.

If parents are willing to drive the extra distance, why wouldn't they be allowed to choose? Every school is not a match for every child and parents know their children best ... More »

Definitely! I believe that families should be allowed to attend any school they want, because there are some who went to a good school and parents want what's best for their kids. Even education.

Families should be able to attend any school they wish.
