It was our first year at Bill Wright and our first year at public school, so I was very concerned about the transition. Needless to say, I worried for nothing. My daughter has done wonderfully! Her teacher (Mrs.Beavers) is great and the new principal (Mr.Pool) is exactly what I would expect of a principal. Every teacher in her grade seems to be just as involved and caring as Mrs.Beavers. My daughter has loved it. I couldn't be more pleased!

My daughter attended Bill Wright and we were very pleased with Mrs. Sefcik her 1st grade teacher. She did very well overall for the year. Everyone at the school was terrific. She learned so much and is very excited to be going back to Bill Wright.

The quailty of education is limited by the administration. Teachers are not allowed the freedom and creativity needed to perform at high levels. Teacher burnout is high and there is little support for teachers, parents and students. There are many discipline problems and a lack of respect from the top. The music instruction is lacking and there is no art or extracurricular activities except the child care from the District. All emphasis is on the TAKS but not on anything else.

I go in every Monday and help with the Kindergarten reading group or play word games. Then I eat lunch with my child. I also attend and bring things to all school parties. Since I volunteer only on Mondays I do not burn out. : )

Our school gives us mandatory hours (15) that we must give to the school in one way or the other. It is very easy if you don't mind stuffing envelopes or being a lunch mom. I think they even give working moms the opportunities to work on paperwork.... More »
