I think Holston Middle School is Great! The staff is friendly enough and they take their job seriously. I think the parents are the ones to whom the responsibility lies with invoking change on issues of concern. The teachers can only do so much & need our support to change things. Keep up the good work!

I am a student, also, at Holson Middle, and over all, I have to agree, it is a great school. We have great student, exception for a few, though.FCA, the 6th Grade Enviormental Club, and the BETA Club, not to mention sports, are some of the many great things that go on at Holston, I have loved it since my first day of 6th grade, I and many other, have had great memories at Holston Middle School.

I go to Holston Middle School and think that it is a great school. Now, granted, the food is, well, i guess you'd say 'cafeteria food' and there is a few teachers that aren't that 'good'. The music, art, and sports are great, and I should know because I'm involved in a lot of them. There are programs that go on, but the only two that I can think of are 6th grade enviormental club, outreach, and sports. I know every morning when I go that I'll be safe. If you are thinking about enrolling your child here, I think that it would be a great desision. Many would agree.

I personally am not satisfied with several teachers at Hms. We have a few who do not care if the student learns a subject or not. When I went to school, teachers made class fun. You wanted to learn. Several of these teachers could care less. They tell you to look it up in the book. How does a book help if you don't know what your looking at. I think the school board should re-evaluate several teachers. They need to look at how many students failed their classes or had failing grades.

My child has add. He started hes in the 2nd grade reading at a first grade level. At the end of the year the teachers had him reading on a third grade level and he enjoys school. They took a child who cried when we took him to school every morning and made him a good student who now is in the 6th grade band and cries when he misses. I love this school and it's staff and I thank god for them every day

Overall, I think that HMS is a good quality school. There are issues with peer pressure and bullies, but you have that in all schools. Most of the faculty and staff that I have come into contact with have been great. Most of them really do want to be there and care for the students. As far as parents being kept in the loop, they are not really. If you are working parents, the odds are great that you will not know what is going on with your children at school. Communication could be better.

There needs to be alot more concern about children that are picked on and bullied by other students. There is to much that goes by and the staff does not seem to want to get envolved until it is a major problem.
