The academic programs at this school are exceptional and the teachers are capable, hard-working, and dedicated. The on-site parent involvement coordinator is working to involve parents in this partnership. Parents who are involved on a regular basis will see the varied programs and teaching strategies that are being implemented to move the students to an acceptable/above average learning level. They will also see the difficulties educators face with discipline when there is little or no support or involvement from parents. The resources are there; the teachers and teaching strategies are there; the students are there. Involved parents would boost achievement, attendance, and attitude.
This school has a lot of resources, but they aren't used. There is no PTSA or formal parent involvement at all. The principal never returns calls, and everyone is totally frustrated!
