My son goes to this school and his teacher so far is okay, but the principal is not. We had to bring my son 5 minutes late in class and they kind of threatened us that if it continues they will have to send us to court for continuous tardiness. I tried to talk to the principal and the assistant principal and try to find a solution for the next couple of days that I would probably bring him late 5 min and they were reluctant to help in any way. They told me that it will affect my sons daily schedule, but sending us to court will be just fine on my son.... I guess!!! I have seen better schools than this one in this area and is unfortunate that he has to be here for this year.
Principal leadership - 4 stars Teacher quality - 5 stars Extracurricular Activities - 4 stars Parent Involvement - 5 stars Safety/Discipline - 4 stars
Our daughter attended this school in 2008 - 2009 and absolutely loved it! We had the best first grade teacher a child could ever want: Mrs. Levy! Unfortunately we had to move to Minnesota for work, and we will deeply miss the school and community.
Green will have a new Principle for the 2009/2010 school year. This is exactly the type of changes that this school has been needing. Now if they could replace a few of the poor teaching staff.....this school has a chance.
If you get a teacher who actually teaches... you're fine... But if you get a teacher that is new...Good luck.. they are quick to send you to a teaching center, instead of teaching your child themselves. Thank goodness Green will have a new Principle...
We are the parents of a 9th grader (top of her class) and a child with a small learning disability. We have found Green to cater to both children's needs. They care about their safety and learning. The teachers, staff and principals give and give. My 5th grader has been on field trips that are great learning experiences for every day life (skills like don't spend more then you earn). If we have had a question or concern the staff has immediately contacted me (us) for resolution and it has always been in the best interest of my/our child. It is a great place!
I completely agree with the last statement, cliques are a huge problem at this school, I was new to allen and felt very left out at this school. My son also did and his grades suffered because of this. Lets just say you could tell he was not a teachers favorite! The PE teacher is the total oppisitte, she really doesn't fit in, she's wonderful!
High parent involvement, sympathetic leadership, adequate supplies and materials, limited extracurricular activities
The quality of education in this school is top notch! The teachers are hit or miss....some great and some very, very bad. It is a rules-oriented school which for some children is great but for other (out of the box type thinkers) it is confining.
Very good at assessing children's capabilities and limitations early enough to place them in the appropriate coarse of study. Variety of teaching styles so that you can find what your child needs. Parents are very involved when appropriate.
