School is very good. The parent involvment is threw the roof ! Very friendly place
The neighborhood is great around Barton Hills, and the principal seems to know all the kids, which is refreshing. Our kindergartener is excited to go to school every day!
Barton Hills Elementary is a most wonderful school. I think I have been most impressed with the amount of parent involvement with in this school. There is such an atmosphere about the campus that a person naturally feels at home upon arrival. It is most welcoming. The princicpal, Katie Achtermann, has a warm and friendly personality that projects through out the teachers and staff. I feel fortunate that my children attend this school and I am grateful to all parents, teachers, and facultiy that make Barton Hills the BEST!!!! Sincerely, Amber Potter
The teachers here are just amazing! They love what they do and it shows!
The school is great. The parental involvement very high. The teachers are very helpful and communication is excellent.
This is a great elementary school. The class sizes are small, and the large majority of teachers are wonderful. Parents are very involved and the school has a great sense of 'community.' We've been very happy so far.
This is a small and wonderful school. It reminds me of a school that I went to when I was young, it is very small and close knit.
Teachers were great. Parents were very involved and school had a number of different extracurriculars to keep the kids busy.
A fantastic school, in all aspects. The teachers are wonderful, the staff, the principal - everyone works together for the kids. The parental involvement is amazing - I have never seen a more packed PTA meeting! I feel very safe at this school, the teacher we have this year is great - she is teacher of the year, too!
My daughter has attended for 2 years, and we love this school. The sense of community -- kids/teachers/parents -- is amazingly high. The school engages in many creative programs. I wish I was a student here!
This is the school of choice for many families. We transfer our children to this school because of the nurturing, safe environment, professionalism of the principal, and well-trained, caring teachers. The principal does follow through on parent complaints (I've gone to her with several the past two years). I have also learned that it is helpful to go to the teacher first, because some complaints were merely results of miscommunication. The others were successfully mediated with the help of the principal.
Parental input is not wanted by the principal and many of the teachers. Gifted & talented student needs are not met. There are too few innovative and creative teachers. Class sizes are small & school size is small--a real plus. The district math curriculum is weak & is not supplemented at this school. Complaints about teachers are not taken seriously by the principal.
