a joke. the principal knows what to say and when to say but is fake. He will take credit for all the good. A lot of clicks here and the 'in crowd'. those that are favored by the principal and those that are not. The big problem is there is no checks and balances. Lots of turnover. kids run a muck.
My child goes to royal middle school and i beleive it is a wonderfull school full of the great minds of the future!!!!!!!!!
The school has a wonderful Principal this year and I have confidence that he will turn the school around...if given the opportunity. However, I am not willing to sacrafice my child's education to save a drowning school. The teachers are mediocre at best. I have returned homework with red marks due to bad grammar, not typos but bad grammar. How can I expect my child to receive a quality education from someone who can not fully grasp the grammatical rules for the english lanuage. This is especially sad when the class I am returning corrected papers to is English.
This is a very good school. Nice projects and good grades.
As a teacher at this school, and proud to be returning again next year, I find the lack of academic parental involvement to be a pressing issue. The students are, for the most part, doing what their parents expect. Very few parents attend award ceremonies or open houses. When the parents step up and let their students know that they EXPECT more, the students will give more. The academic UIL competition is proof of this. This school did very well over all in our region, the kids and staff worked hard and it paid off. I have had a great year and I feel that the administration did well with what they had. Hopefully, next year will bring out more parental involvement and it will be an even better year.
As a teacher I feel the main thing this school needs in order to improve is a strong, proven leader who will hold the position long-term; an experienced Principal (no more 1st year Principals - please!) who has a proven success record running a minority-majority, title I school. Everyone openly agrees this is the case, but just shruggs and says, 'well, we can't afford to pay someone with that type of experience enough to lure them out here.' Personally, I think we can't afford not to. The school has a huge problem with teacher turnover and I would say the lack of strong administrative leadership is the primary reason for this. The Principal's position was just posted again this week. Hopefully, this time around we will get it right.
Too much emphasis given to TAKS. Lack of discipline by students and administration, not consistent in any endeavors. High teacher/staff turn over because of the lack of leadership and inexperience of administration. No parental involvement. It is not welcomed by the administration. I withdrew my child after 2 years due to the minimal expectation required by the students and teachers. God help this school.
This Is the worst school I have every seen. I would not recomend it to anyone. Crime is high and they are good at covering it up.
