Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter is receiving AMAZING education at LHE. It is so telling when all of the teachers that work there bring their own children to their school. Wouldn't trade this place for anything. Well done LHE! Thanks for being so GREAT!

We had terrible experiences at this school and I am telling the truth! 1. BULLYING: My son was bullied 5 times in less than 6 months. Counselor offered no help after I reached out to her at least twice. At one time when I was volunteering for the classroom teacher, I personally witnessed 2 girls punching a boy against the iron fence, none of the other adults went over to deal with it, and I had to even though the kids were not in my class. 2. ABSENTEEISM: The teacher had at least 6 absences in less than 4 months. 3. PRINCIPAL AND SCHOOL: Before my son was officially enrolled, the principal told the parents that they would not give kids much homework as requested by previous parents. As an educator myself, I have to question this policy. Do they know what they are doing? What kind of school is it if the principal thinks kids should get less or very little homework? How will the kids learn if they don't get practice? 4. DISCRIMINATION AND PREJUDICE: PTA is all white for the years I was there. I was always looked at differently and not greeted because I'm not caucasian. There was this little cliche of white moms who excluded everyone else. It's not a friendly community.

This has been a wonderful school for my two kids. They went there from K-6th grade. The school is diverse and reaches out to the kids less fortunate. Our school is the best! I worked in LHE as a 1st grade bilingual teacher four years ago... Then, I left and taught 3rd grade in a different school for three years. During that time, I learned a lot... but never stopped talking and thinking about LHE. Now I am back in this awesome place as a Campus Reading Specialist. The sense of community between staff, parents and students is present all over the school. We care about children, their learning and shaping them in to the best community members they can be. I have had three children go through Lake Highlands Elementary school and will be watching our last sixth grader graduate this year. This is not a school it is a family! Our daughter had to have kidney surgery last year and not only did the teachers visit her in the hospital bearing gifts but our principal Kim Sullivan called on two different occasions to check on her. My great niece moved to Dallas in the second grade. The teachers and staff have been so supportive and caring. Mrs. Whitley helped her during the challenge when her life was 'rearranged'. The teachers assign her extra work in her specail fields of passion and help her when she's challenged with her tough subject. Mrs. Puckett, the lead Science Teacher, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Burkhalter and Mr. Dungan inspire her to reach for the stars. Ms. Sullivan effectively uses her theme each year to explain her expectations and to communicate with the students and parents. Teachers, staff and parents cooperate with monthly events like Reading Under the Stars, Math Night, Science Night, Multicultural Night and PTA activities.

This school is a 'one in a million' and that is recognized not only by students and teachers in Richardson, but in Dallas, Plano, and Addison too.
