We currently have a fourth grader at this school. He is an advanced child so I was very apprehensive about sending to public school but I have been nothing but impressed with the level of teachers at this school. My younger son will start Kinder in the Fall and I am so excited. The teachers are top notch. The PTA is very involved and does a great job at involving the families. So very pleased with this school. Never have had any issues in the 5 years we have been here. I like the new Princicpal. She is very nice and quite visible from my standpoint. Being here last year, I noticed she has made several positive changes. My only recommendation would be to have more extracurricular options like a science club, reading club, and maybe even an after school P.E structured P.E. class.

When my child started at this school in Kindergarten we were so excited! It was know to be one of the best in Flower Mound. Unfortunately, it was great school who had just lost a great principle. The person who replaced her caused a significant deterioration in the quality of the school and caused alot of great teachers to leave. Her replacement this year (2013) has yet to make any improvements. She is rarely visiable to the students or parents. I could not be more disappointed in the school...even recently when my child was unaccounted for during a daycare pickup due to an OSE communication error. What I received was a blame game from the school for everyone but them. The principle was notifed and has yet to reach out to us to discuss the matter or even to reassure us of our child' safety while in thei care each day.

I have two kids at Old Settlers and cannot say enough good things about this school. The teacher and parent involvement is top notch. All the teachers my kids have had have been wonderful - especially Mrs. Bransford and Mrs. Wurst. I do think the principal could be more involved and the front office staff needs to perk up a little but all in all this is a great school.

Old Settlers is a great school. Both of my children currently attend, and we have been delighted with the teachers they have had. My daughter had Mrs. Robison last year and she is truly amazing. She went above and beyond for my child, and made every day a fun and authentic learning experience. The office staff is friendly and never hesitates to help visitors. My only criticism concerns the temperature limits set for going outside. I assume this may be a district policy, but there are days that the kids go out for recess and it is entirely too cold. Overall, Old Settlers is a great school!

I sent my son to this school 12 years ago and it was great... Only had one Teacher I was not Happy With. I now have my daughter in Ther and do not like how it is all about the Task Test. This seems to really take away the creativity in teaching... there seems to be more of a want for the funding from the sate then having individual Teaching from the staff. The office staff is Very Rude and Acts like you are a Burden on Them when you Walk into The Office.... you have to ask for the help and if they are not on personal calls or just talking amoungest themselves you might get help without attitude. I will not be sending my daughter back because of the way they only teach the Task Test. I want more for my daughter!!!

Good school. Teachers have been great. Have seen many negative changes in morale and a general climate change amongst the teachers and parents since new leadership has taken over. The office staff is VERY rude and as unhelpful as they come. I think we will see further decline in the school's atmosphere until the current leadership changes. But despite the changes, parent support is great and the teachers are working with the parents. That is always a plus.

OSE is a top notch school. The teachers are very dedicated and some of the hardest working and caring I've experienced. The office staff is warm and friendly and I personally feel very good about my student's safety because they are very careful about letting people in the building to roam- including parents.

The majority of the teachers go above and beyond their required responsibilities. The administration needs to be warmer. The office staff does not give a good first impression of the school and would benefit the school if they were more friendly and kind.

Old Settlers is great! The PTA, Teachers and the parent involvement are wonderful.It's too bad that an overemphasis on 'Teaching to the Test' takes place. Taks scores are high, however both teachers and students are stressed with the pressure to perform well.

OSE has always been the school all the others are compared to. I have been saddened by the change in moral and overall well roundedness of the school since the change in leadership. It seems the focus is on TAKS and not on the actual education of the children. What a difference just a few years can make with poor leadership.

We are new to this area, but can already tell this is one outstanding school. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. PTA is well organized and the teachers all seem to be very happy. The pricipal is very open, honest and actually walks around the school and helps with dismissals. All teachers assist in welcoming the students in the mornings, they assist in the cafeteria during lunch and recess as well as at dismissal. My kids are very happy with their teachers and are excited about going to school.

2 of the 3 teachers so far have been excellent. We have no been pleased with the leadership so far and the office staff could use some customer service training. Overall though we have been happy with the education my child has received.

Overall a good school. Too large to encourage fine arts and outside and PE time are limited. Good base in first grade classes. Too many concerns in third grade for TAKS testing.
