The TASK was designed so even immigrant non-english speaking students could pass it. It is no more difficult an exam than a GED. The education students recieve at this school hardly prepares individuals to be successful in post secondary education. A school with an average graduating class of 10-20 students shouldn't be proud of how well they do in academic contests; when they, like many students they compete against from small town schools, only go to the contests to get out of class. What percentage of Follett graduates move on to get graduate and professional degrees? Most of the people I know who graduated from here with their "gimmie" diploma are still in the local area and work on hog farms. I'm glad I was able to move away and place my child into a school capable of challenging him. The entire county would be better of having a county school. By doing so, they would better be able to meet the needs of exceptional students. Instead, like most small town schools, they fall into a habbit of catering to the slowest moving part.

Every student will graduate from Follett because the teachers and administrators prepare them well. Just look at the success Follett has in competetion with schools not only in the panhandle, but around the state. Follett's success speaks for itself; Follett students dominate in every endeavor they pursue. Follett is one of the best six-man schools in the state of Texas hands down.

The curiculum is far from challenging. Everything in the school is formatted to ensure that every student graduates, not that every student can be successful while attending even a junior college or a trade school. There is a reason most of the people who live here stay. It is a very sheltered community and outsiders are heavily hazed and mistreated.
