I have 2 children that go to blackburn. They have been going there since they opened the school. The teachers are wonderful and the principal is really great. I think that science should have a little more teaching on this subject, because my child and neither of the parents get it. Also I think that the upper grades should be aloud some recess time. It is not fair to the other children that is being on there best behavoir to have recess taken away just because of some of the other students acting out. This is not the others fault and I think the good ones should be recognized for there good doings. As far as anything else this school is a great school and has alot to offer.

I am a parent from Blackburn elementary. I think that Forney overall has struggled with tenure but I am hopeful that will calm down now. Also, the specials are an added improvement this year. I would like to see more creative arts added to the program next year too. It will be interesting to see the test results this year as well. I am hoping to see more focus on science since that was the weak spot this last go around. Go BULLDOGS!!!

This school will be a good fit if you have an average student. The teachers in general are friendly and helpful. However they have to deal with overcrowded classrooms and no assistants. There are no special classes, tutors, or programs. There is music class and honors choir for 4th, 5th and 6th, but no art or language classes.

The school is well run and has helpful teachers and help staff. The teachers are easy to get ahold of and eager to help any student.

This school needs some leadership. My children have been going there since the doors open three years ago. The turn over rate for teachers is extremely high. Unimpressive

Very Good School. Teachers are very willing to help students when they struggle in certain areas and offer after school tutoring for students who need extra help. Teachers very involved with parents when they notice problems arising at school. More schools should model themselves after this one.

My children have had a wonderful experience at Blackburn. The teachers we've encountered as well as the Principal and Asst. Principal have been very accessible and helpful.

My kids have gone to blackburn for two years and alot has changed this year I'm not sure if it is for the good. Alot of good teachers have left blackburn that were there last year. My kids don't enjoy this school like they have others. The new principal isn't a big hit and they took recess away from the older kids. I think they should be able to have free time at some point everyday. not much is offered at this school as far as sports goes. last year my fourth grader complained about the TAKS preperation, thats all the teacher focused on all year.

Blackburn is a great school except there is not an art program available to the students. They have P.E. and music. Parents are very involved and encouraged to help out at the school. There are not many after school sports but Forney has its own programs which are great. Everyone who attends this school lives in the nearby neighborhood. This school is as good or better than most in texas.

I have a boy in 1st Grade at Blackburn Elementary and I must say that I am very impressed with everything about the school. His teacher Mrs. Richards seems very nice and she really cares that her students learn to their fullest ability. The Principals and office staff are all awesome, they made it a point to meet me as a parent and make me feel comfortable about the school and the programs that my son is in. I give Blackburn Elementary and Forney ISD a perfect five star rating. I hope to be able to keep both my son and my daughter in Forney Schools all the way through high school. I would reccomend Forney ISD to any Family that is looking for a great school systen to offer their children a Great Education.
