North Hi Mount is a wonderful school to have your children in. The size is small and the staff is wonderful and caring. Your child will definitely feel safe and loved at this small school where teachers and principal put a childs needs first.
North Hi Mount has been a great place for my children. It is a small school with great leadership and wonderful teachers. PTA is not active and more parents need to get involved.
North Hi Mount is a great school. It is small and unfortunately little parent involvment. Teachers are wonderful and do truly care about students academics. The principal is caring an nurturing. One goal that I see the teachers and principal need to take on is to get more parents involved. However, it may difficult due to work or other circumstances.
I have been disappointed by North Hi Mount elementary. The lack of parent involvement, principal leadership and lack of order from the PTA is apparent in school activities and functions. As an example of teacher quality, at the school's Field Day most of the teachers were just sitting while the 5th graders took part in the activities with the young ones. It just seems that North Hi Mount is losing in pride and quality and I hope for the school's sake it will change.
My child has been at this school for 6 yrs - since Kindergarten and we have loved every one of them. The teachers are special and the school, albeit public, is very small and has the atmosphere and academia of a private school. The parent base is a little weak and I believe that is at least partially due to the seemingly transient nature of the residents of most of the surrounding neighborhoods. This year 06-07 has seen a huge increase in promotional activities after school hours which, in turn, appears to be increasing the awareness and participation of the parents. All-in-all, it has been an excellent grade school experience for myself and my child.
I love the staff. They really care about the kids. Parent involvement could be promoted more. PTA could use more bi-lingual parents. There are a lot of parents coming and going but a small group doing everything. The after school enrichment program is a huge hit.
Overall the school gives a good education. The PTA could be better organized. Notices to parents often come at the last minute, which can be frustrating when trying to plan for things.
