I love the diversity this school offers!! Galloway is a small Christian school that allows and actually encourages free thinking and acquisition of knowledgable inquiry. My child has developed academic habits of mind to serve him for years to come. Many different nationalities are represented here and the community outreach and service projects are meaningful...from making beads for potable water in Africa to volunteering at the Houston Food Bank, this small school is BIG on heart!!!
The Galloway teachers are dedicated to a loving learning environment. They push each child to do their best and to be inquisitive about the world around them.
I have 2 kids attending Galloway in prek 3 and grade 1 They have very nice facility , learning curve for my kids is very high , they are focused on education and teachers / staff are friendly and approachable . They work with you to achive high standards you have set for your childern interms of education. They need to work on the sports aspect of school . Lower school is awsome experience for our kids so far .
I have two children at The Galloway School. The school has the absolute best teachers - dedicated, passionate about teaching, and nurturing. The academics are very challenging and you cannot beat the class sizes! One daughter has 10 kids in her class and the other has 12 in hers! I cannot recommend the school more highly!
Dedicated teachers and administration fill the halls of The Galloway School. The principal does many wonderful things for the school that have benefitted offices, classrooms and the school. She is talented, tireless and supportive of her staff. Technology is ever changing. Brand new computers and printers have been placed in the computer lab. The school has had laptops available for all upper school students for years. I see children learning, taking amazing fieldtrips, having oustanding visitor/speakers, becoming more independent and enjoying themselves... Upper school classes have lower school buddy classes. Both teachers and students love participating in special activities that create family-like environment in the school. Big kids learn mentoring skills and patience with their little friends. They are loved and adored by their little buddies.
Save your child from this mess of a school. The atmosphere is horrible and has been since last year. So much pressure and very little encouragement. There is a blogger who watches and reports on the weirdness at the school. Just another sign of a failing administration.
Our child has been attending the Galloway since she was eight years old. We could not be happier. The teachers have been great. We have great parents, They just added a new middle school wing it is fantastic.
Our child has been attending the Galloway since second grade. We could not be happier with the education, and great excitement for learning she has received. The teachers have always been enthusiastic, and you can tell they love what they do. I don't think you could ask for a principal with more passion, or dedication to the school or the students. We have a great group of parents, that come together for the good of the school.
Our child has attended the Galloway School since kindergarten. Each year the conditions of the school have deteriorated. The administration is horrible. The teacher moral, quality, and dedication is poor except maybe 3 teachers. I regret placing our child is this school.
Our child has attended The Galloway School since pre-k three. We have had a wonderful experience with this school. The teachers and admin staff have always been very helpful with any concern or need that we might have. We now have a second child attending The Galloway and we are completly satisfied with all the schools functions. It is my opinion that The Galloway school is a private orginization that is solely geared towards the success of children. While I have seen plenty of parents come and go, the ones that stay are staying because their children strive in the schools environment. It is also my opinion that this school meets parents expectations of a private school.
I have two children in the Galloway school and I have to say it is the best decision my family has made. We are extremely happy with the education provided and the treatment we have received from teachers and staff members. The expectations of the students are of a high standard and the challenging academic programs and extracurricular activities provided have made my kids excel in all areas of their education. My children will continue to attend this school as long as they possibly can.
I have 2 children who over attended The Galloway School over the past 5 years and have been very pleased from the start. We have had a wonderful experiance with all the teachers and staff we have had the pleasure of dealing with. If you are looking for a structured school with high expectations, this is the school. Having said that, though the teachers expect a lot from the students, they still keep school/learning enjoyable. My children have never complained about feeling like things were "too hard" and have always been excited to go to school.
My child has been going to The Galloway School since Pre-K 4 and now in 1st grade. I only have excellent things to say about the teachers and the staff. The Principal loves the children and they all take care of our child. If she is sick, if she has a bad day or even if she doesn't catch on quickly. They are there extra to help her. We've been worried when we didn't understand why our child is falling behind in a certain area and the teacher would tell us exactly what we need to do to improve these areas. I believe my child would be a lazy study person if it wasn't for the expectations of this wonderful school!
My children love attending school here, and I feel priviledged to have them attending school here. Emphasis is on advanced education, but apparently it is still "fun" enough that my children look forward to going. We have been quite pleased with the extracurricular activities offered, which range from academics, to sports, to art, to music, to horseback riding! This is definitely the right school for our children. I have the utmost respect for the administration and teachers.
I can't believe that I allowed myself to get talked into this! My son's teacher actually told me that she moves on after only 50% of the class has mastered a concept. That is terrible educational practice. My daughter who has never received anything other than an "E" in conduct received and "S" because she was 5 mins. late turning in three assignments in a week. Take my advice, go elsewhere and save your family a great deal of stress!
I don't know what it is about this school but it wasn't a good fit for us. The school expects parents to stay out and give more money. My child was unhappy and stressed. I was unhappy that he did not retain much of what he learned. He made good grades because he has an excellent memory. Kind of sad that it didn't stick with him.
This is by far the best school in the bay area. I have looked everywhere. If your child is not ready to for a highly structured education this is not the school for you. Children need to pushed and not be held back. Parents need to get real about american education. Public schools are preparing your kids for just being average. Sad...........:(
I as a parent don't feel the nurture and warmth from most of the lower school teachers and the Administration Staff. The assistant principle last year (2009-2010) was the best thing to the school in a long time, and they couldn't keep her. The school is very demanding on "donation". Requests such as "... consider to donate large and expensive items like big HD TV, a nice photography package with s/w and quality camera .." for auction events are very common. I noticed if you make good with donations, the principle and the registrar lady would be very nice to you. Otherwise, they are cold as ice. Don't be fool with the increase enrollment in 2009-2010. A nearby (Pearland) private school closed. The Galloway picked up some student from there. The enrollment in 2010-2011 has gone down. I give 2 stars for low teacher/students ratio and the catered food is good
I think the school is too expensive for what it offers. Quite a few of its rules and regulations feel like public school. The administration is reluctant to work with the parents when things go off track. The expectations for K are just too high. School is suppose to be fun and not stressful. However, if you want to fast track your four year old for college this is the place.
This is my daughters first year at this school. There are many of tests they are required to take in 1st grade. I don't feel like the children get enough time to learn the material before they are moved to the next lesson. Two things that happened during the year that bothered me. One is they held an election for class president which was nothing more than a popularity contest. The April fools joke the teachers played on the children went a little far. They moved 'bad' children to another class and told them they were in trouble. Some of them were very upset and crying . The teachers went ahead and gave them the weekly spelling test without letting them in on the joke. We are staying in hope that 2nd will be better.
