I completely understand what you are saying about spears elementary. The staff and teachers are horrible at spears, all they care about is what you have and the families they see dont have much are mistreated. They need to learn to treat people with equal respect and dignity. The 2nd grade teacher Kelly Will is horrible and talks about her student's parents behind their back and makes fun of them.
I have a son with special needs and have struggled to find a public school that believed in his ability to learn and be a part of the school community. Allen Elementary is AMAZING! My sons progress began immediately and he is surrounded by teachers and friends that support and uplift him. I couldn't ask for a better school.
After a HORRIBLE exxperience at Spears, Allen Elementary was a breath of absolute fresh air. The Principal is the best. She is outside at drop off and in the halls during the day where the kids can see her. She is very approachable. I don't have enough room here to say all the great things about Mrs. Treadwell, Mrs. Meyers as well. The teachers may be young, but they are strong teachers and they really like to be with the kids. We recently moved back to Arizona. It was extremely hard ofr us to leave Allen Elementary. The Mrs. Wilkinson makes this school and it is a great school.
I have concerns with the supervision of bullying and or safety measures at this school vs. the former school Bledsoe Elementary in which my Daughters attended last year. Based on Geographical re-alignment zones we were designated Allen School zone. Initially both of my Daughters were very sad that they had to leave Bledsoe Elementary but I assurred them that change is good and that the new school would be of the same standards as Bledsoe. Post the first year I have to agree with some areas of concern with the new school in regards to the level of new teachers vs. Bledsoe even though several Bledsoe Teachers were pulled over to Allen to complete staffing. I can't speak enough Volume about the Bledsoe Principal and the Energy-Direction that was evident as well as accountability and supervision when compared to the 1st year at Allen regarding accountabiliy and supervision of bullying.
My step-son was a fifth grader for school year 2009-2010. My husband and I were very impressed with the faculty and how the school was run on a day to day basis. We especially loved the constant communication we had between the teachers and Principals, specifically Monica Treadwell. We were very impressed with Melanie Ragland and Katie Kavanaugh. My step-son, Cameron, has said Mrs Ragland was his favorite teacher ever and Mrs. Kavanaugh was a close second :) Both teachers were very responsive to our emails and were always willing to help. We have nothing but excelllent things to say about this school.
This school is new, but I am very happy so far. My kids love their school and teachers.
