Upset with the new principal. Things at O'Connell do not seem to be improving at all with these changes.

What a great school! The new administration is working hard to turn the school around and offer the best education on the island. I see the changes and wish them the best in their endeavors!

I hope the new principle is able to turn this school around. Galveston needs a good high school. This school has no right to use college preparatory in their name. The only preparation these kids were getting for college was how to party. Good luck to them though beccause Galveston needs this school to get their act together.

O'Connell was once a great school but now is on the downhill slide. I would not send my child here. It's sad to see such a once wonderful school fall like a ton of bricks. Most teachers there are still top-notch but probably won't be there for long due to unhappiness with the administration. I believe they've gone through 4 principals in as many years. Too bad.....

Wonderful. Sound family environment Small enough for every child to be heard and large enough to experience true school school spirit!

My son attended Roman Catholic schools in Galveston K-12. His education was clearly outstanding - he is an Honors Student at a national university and is head and shoulders ahead of his peers. I highly recommend O'Connell!

I beleive it has a sound education program. The atheltic program would benifit from a yoga stretching class that would educate on injury prevention and invest in a athletic department that has treatment fort the atheletes. If you are going to have an excellent program it needs to have an injury prevention program and more treatment . It is a known fact that child obesity is rising every year. The kids would benifit from a more balanced meal plan with less fatty foods and more fruits and veggies with lean proteins.Staticstics show you have more productive children in school if they eat foods that are on the low glecemic chart.

O'Connell is an outstanding school it teaches you respect and many other skills you will need when you walk out of those doors for good. I would recommend O'C to any parent who wants the best for their children.

My son is in the first year and is loving it. The classes are small, the teachers are enthusiastic and the overall school atmosphere is positive. This school shines. They do everything they can to work with a family to make a great learning environment for all the students.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
