I like the School as 4 stars and also like it because the strategies of the school and the school overview
I am a former student.i went to bussey it used to be a great school.with the new princables and everything its HORRIABLE!.the fact that the students there feel like DOGGS.if horriable.who would make their students that they appartently love and care about feel like that.its not a impressing school anymore like it used to.they DONT have dances anymore.they WONT have 8th grade formal.which EVERY year we couldnt wait for when we were in 6 & 7 grade.if you want a place for your daughter/son to no enjoy and feel like there at JAIL.then go ahead and let them atend.all i have to say is BUSSEY HAS CHANGED.AND NOTT IN A GOOD WAY!. -Kylie. (former school that attended.before all the changing happened) p.s for the people that didnt like mr.farley.you wouldnt.like the new princable.way worst.
This was my daughters first year at Bussey, I'm not impressed with the school at all. They consider themselves to be a bully free school. I disagree. My child was bullied several times and I pressed charges, 3 months later and two meetings still have heard nothing back from them. I wanted to switch my daughters school but she really wants to stay. I will be on top of the teachers next year for sure. A few of the teachers cannot control their classrooms, so when you have a well behaved child who can't focus on their lesson, I say send those misbehaved children to an alternative school if they can't sit there and keep their mouths shut. I think we need more parental involvement these days. It's getting a little out of hand...
I Agree with the comment below...Here is my ISSUE.. tell me why is it when your child dresses for free day because he earned it and he looses his free clothes bracelet he is to wear they have no problem calling the parent and telling them your child will be in IBS until I bring his uniform to school for him to change into which that I understand no argument there BUT where my major yet disturbing issue is my older son gave him a haircut which was not dress code (he had lines and circles design). So tell me WHY an office personnel took a SHARPIE yes black permanent marker and colored in the spaces and sent him back to class????? Why not call the parent put the child in IBS? what if my son was allergic to the marker ? So when my boyfriend went to the school to talk to them about it not sure if it were the principal or the asst. principal his response was " what do you want me to do" eels he has to ask, wow really you mean he is suppose to help run the school yet he can not figure out what he needs to do with that office personnel. Someone please tell me where in the student handbook does it state it is ok use a sharpie on a childs head.
THE TEACHERS AND ARE GREAT...BUT THE POLICE AND PRINCIPAL DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS WITH THE KIDS..MY CHILD WILL NOT GO THERE ANYMORE...I THINK THEY DONT WANT CHILDREN TO GET ALONG.YOUR CHILD WILL GET BULLYED AND THEY DO NOYHING ABOUT IT.
All 5 of my children have gone to Bussey and I have been very pleased with all the faculty. It's a great school.
Students are out of control here. Have to force students to do work. School needs lot of improvement with students behavior and discipline. Grades are low.
I am the parent of a 7th grader, this school is excellent! It has a great Principal - Mr. Farley - to begin with, and the excellence he stands for and displays flows through the staff. The academics are great, plenty of honors programs to challenge my daughter, if she misbehaves they contact me so the problem can be stopped in its tracks. My daughter enjoys particpating in basketball and band, as well, both of these programs are a must at Bussey and run by very enthusiatic instructors ans coaches. The school is always clean and tidy, the meals they serve are outstanding and the office staff is courteous friendly and eager to help in any way they can. The teachers are wonderful, very eager and interactive via e-mails etc. with the parents. We have had a wonderful experience at Bussey thus far!
This is our first year at Bussey and I will have to admit, having a 6th grader in Middle School with all those bigger kids was a very scary thought. My son has excelled this year and LOVES the school. The teachers are willing to be in contact with the parents and to keep you informed. The office staff and principal are very concerned with the kids safety and success. I am thrilled that I did the research and picked the right school!
I LOVE BUSSEY. My son has been there 3 years and my daughter starts next year, then I have 2 more to go through MS, they will also go to Bussey. I am looking forward to the next 9 years that I'll be a Bussey parent. The teachers are great, the principal is the best, they really care about the students.
well im not a parent myself im a student at bussey middel school... only one person said a bad thing about this school... now i love bussey... the have great teachers, great princpils, and great coachs... so if any of more parents think bussey is a bad school your wrong! because the school is loved by all students...
This school is horrible. No parent envolment, poor academic programs, but there are a lot of extracurricular activities
My daughter has been at Bussey for 3 years and we have been very pleased with the leadership from the principal, teachers and staff. They have been very compassionate, very eager to assist both the student and the parents. We have had no bad experiences, only good. Our daughter has serious medical issues and was always dealt with very respectfully and with great care and concern. The students have been great, too! My personal opinion is that Bussey gets a bad rap sometimes because it is so old and not in the greatest neighborhood. It could used some remodeling but even without it is a great school and I look forward to my next child attending there in another year!
This school has good pricipal leadership and the teachers teach children like their own kids. The school's diciplinary are up-to-date and the safety is satisfactory. However, my only regret is that the school lacks extra activites. Overall,it is a school that students will be proud of after many years of graduation.
The teachers and staff at Bussey are so good to the kids. My son has had some really wonderful teachers over the past 2 years. The principal is a caring guy and has the best interest of the students in mind. I can't say that for all the other schools my children have attended. This staff is so helpful! They are really good about letting me know how my son is doing at any time I ask, and seem happy to give me any information I ask.
I think Bussey is a great school. It takes the parents staying involved as well as the teachers caring. I think as parents we need to stay involved with the school, as much as possible, and that shows our kids that we are concerned about them and their studies. I have only had good things to happen at this school with my kids and I can say that I really appreciate the teachers as well as the coaches for all of their help and support. I have had 4 kids graduate from Bussey and this year will be my youngest son last year. I can say that I will miss Bussey Middle School. Mrs. Harris
The schools today are more interested in getting good state scores then teaching kids the basics. Have you realy checked to see how many kids can tell time from a regular clock or how many can make change? Stop and think about it.
This school is the greatest. The teachers at Bussey are the most caring and most willing to talk to parents that I have ever seen.
