Cooper is one of the best school in Garland. It has teachers that are enthusiastic and have a real passion for teaching. The office staff is always kind and courteous. The leadership is excellent. The principal seems to always have a smile on her face and really listens to parental concerns.

Cooper is a good school, but it is very clicky, from the students, to the teachers, to the office staff. If you are a new student you are not very well accepted.

Not all the teachers at Cooper but alot of them lack the passion to deal with our children. They dont listen to the children. Things are not handled well at cooper at all when it comes to taking care of problems with the kids. Another thing is yes there is alot of parent involvement but very clicky. Outsiders new to the school are not treated well. Also cooper does not take care of bullys. I love cooper but i believe some things need to change. I also dont seem to understand why when Taks is over with so is instruction in the classroom.

This school has such great parent involvement! They are well-organized, multicultural--all with a family atmosphere. They welcomed us well after Hurricane Katrina and made our transition so much smoother.

There is a real sense of community at Cooper. Parents are always there to help not only their own children, but others as well. Parents also help support office staff and the teachers. The teachers that my children have had truly love what they do. It shows in my children's attitude and their grades. There has also been great communication between parent and teacher. The music program is good. The two music teachers are excited about teaching kids to love music and they make it fun! They work hard at teaching our kids to be well rounded! Have had a great experience.

My daughter, a kindergartener, loves her teacher who is highly skilled and degreed. My daughter hadn't attended preschool or gone to day care, but her social skills grew rapidly here at Cooper.

When signing up my boys for Pre K earlier this year, I encountered multiple problems. I have literally called all Garland schools to help me work on several issues, and only Cooper was able to accomodate almost all of them. They are very interested in working with the students and their parents, not only the system - and I for one appreciate that.

I don't like the way the teachers have leadership at Cooper. I don't like the way the state requires the TAKS test and put the added stress on our children. I have sent my daughter to Sylvan for a few months and she had been taught and not talked too. She learned more at Sylvan than what she has been taught the past 3 years at Cooper. But what do you do some of the other schools in the area are worse.
