I have 2 boys that have attended school here since 2009. There isn't enough good things I can say about this school. The teachers my children have had are amazing. Mrs. Alderete and Mrs. Turner (formerly Rohr) are by far my favorites. But it's not just their grade teachers, the office personnel are super friendly and helpful. They have been since day one. Nurse Connie, well let's just say my oldest loves her to death, even seemed to have a reason to be sent to her the first year he had met her. My youngest goes to speech therapy and doesn t feel like he s a slow learner or a kid with a problem, he seems himself as a privileged student who gets to practice with Mrs. Hammer a few times a week. The programs they implemented this year to get fathers involved more at the school have boosted morale with the younger kids. Mr. Grey and Mrs. McEwen bring a certain kind of excitement to the children they come into contact with on a daily basis. The kids are thrilled to hold up their H with their hands and get recognized for just being themselves. It s not just the school and the teachers, it s the programs and new innovative ideas that make this school a treasure to say the very least.

Since the new principle has taken charge, things at Hickman have been great. The new process of picking up kids in the afternoon is excellent and very effective. Great job Mr. Grey

I believe Hickman is one of the best Elementary schools in Garland. Their academic programs are the best I have seen and the care and dedication they have for the children can't be beat. Their music, arts and PE are outstanding.

This school has been a big disappointment. My child's reading teacher Mrs. Webb is outstanding. We love her to death. She has years of experience with the children, great parent communication, and is very friendly.

There is an old saying-'You don't miss your water 'til your well runs dry.' This is certainly true. We recently had to move out of state and this means that the children had to attend a new school. The school they are currently attending is nothing like what we left behind. The teachers at Hickman truly cared about what they were doing and took the job seriously. We especially miss Mrs. Gonzalez (what a lovely voice), Mrs. Perry (Wow! what patience-God Bless), Mrs. Foley. While attending, my children felt so comfortable and accepted and their grades reflected such. Keep up the good work Hickman! We miss you!

I have a 10 year old child that attends Hickman in the 4th grade, with Mrs.Webb. While, I freely admitt that my child is not as 'Focus' as she should be. I find this school to be highly incompetent and not able to do the job for which they [Principle, and Teachers, but not the Admin Staff] are hired to do. Because of Title I, and TitleIX funding, there has been a comprehensive movement to weeded out the so-called 'Unfocus, and problem children out of the general student body and into special classes. To which, they are supposely going to receive better and special help. I think that if you are a Teacher than you should teacher and keep your personal beliefs and likes and dislikes to yourself and do the job for which you applied for and got hired to do. Stop taking it out on the choldren.

We are the proud parents of two wonderful, gifted children that attend this school. They have improved so much in a short amount of time and have changed so much. We are so proud to have responsible, respected well trained teachers at this school that are giving 110% of themselves to help our kids and everyone else,to achive there goals and teach them the best of the best. I have never seen any school like this one be so organize and on top of everything like this school.A big thank you to the Principal, and the staff.Thank you so much for making it easy, understanding for my kids at this school. We hope you all feel the same way we do.May God Bless You.
