I was in gisd since kindergarten, and I spent ONE six weeks there as a freshman (I'm now a sophomore) and wanted to get out. Hated how from day one the core class teachers were so focused only on taks. I never had issues in the district until this school. My brother graduated from there last year, and he was in mostly regular classes, and left pretty ill prepared for college. In all honesty, it deserves its reputation because the students gossip about each other more than they do in my new school. Which is hard to beat, trust me. I also noticed that elective teachers were the ones most into their curriculum.
just checking out high schools for my daughter you don't seem very popular with your students nor the parents . I'll keep looking.
Lakeview Centennial Class of 2014 will dominate all other classes Go Patriots Go GO Go
The school is good and as the college program grows, it will only get better. There have been some increases in fighting between students, but overall discipline seems fair and balanced. Of course all schools will have bad apples, but our principal is attacking that problem head-on. If you want your child to be successful, be involved. Don't hover and don't tell teachers how to do their jobs. Be a parent and teach your child respect and give them good role models. That is how they can be successful in school and life.
I am in the colligiate academy at lakeview, and you get to earn an associate degree of science in 4 high school years which is college bonus.
Lakeview deserves all of the bad rep it receives. As a student currently there i regret the decision i made to move from Naaman Forest(the school i use to be at)The teachers dont care to teach anything beyond what is on the TAKS test and most of the students just dont care.BE WARNED DONT COME TO LAKEVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!
I am currently a student at LCHS, I have attended this school the entire four years and have been able to see the change that our current principle has made. Now, we rarely see any fights, the students have been put more under control, and most importantly, their are new good programs in the school, including the Collegiate Academy. The people are actually very nice, the only reason they would be rude is if anyone is being rude to them. I have friends who moved from other places and they have told me that we are very friendly, that if there was a new person at their old school, no one would speak to them. The teachers go out of their way to help their students. I have had a teacher stay with us in tutorials until 8pm! and has also given up his weekends to help us out. LCHS rocks!
If I could give a negative number of star I would. The admin only cares about favorite students and the rest can forgetany help from them. It doesn't take much for the admin to dislike you and then look out because if they don't like you they will punish you for looking cross eyed. GISD wise up! Replace 99.5% of admin and staff.
My first day enolling my chid into lake view was a nightmare, the staff is very rude, the assintant principal hung up in my face. The students are out of control.
This school has to many problems to name. Save your self and just don't go! The school is a joke. I graduated from there and I feel like a war vetern suffering from PTSD.
