Wonderful school with great and caring teachers! My son has a learning disability and the teachers worked so well with him. The office staff has always been polite and helpful during my encounters with them.

This school is simply amazing! From the Principal, office staff, the teachers and PTA everyone works hard to make this a great experience for the students. The pride that the whole group takes to lead and guide the students can be seen in the joy my child shows when talks about being a Luna Lion.

After a move from out of state, my husband and I found ourselves scrambling to find a school for our son who started K this year. I used this website and found the parent reviews helpful. So I am writing my own for Luna which we were happy to find out was rated Exemplary before the start of the year. Luna has been a great school so far. Our son loves his K teacher, Ms. Brown, and everyone there has been friendly and helpful. The principal, Mr. Howard, is very approachable and great with the kids. I am also very happy with the curriculum. Our son's reading abilities have already improved in such a short time since he started at Luna. He's excited to go to school every day which is a testament to what a great job the Luna staff is doing.

Luna is a great school! My experience with the staff and teachers has been wonderful. My son attends a LIFE 2 course with Mrs. Padden and Mrs. Regalado. They are two wonderful people who share a passion in educating children with disabilities. My son has grown so much at Luna with their help it shows in his progress they place every effort to teach my child. They are doing an exceptional job. In addition, Luna has a wonderful speech pathologist that is doing a magnificent job working with my son. Mrs. Anne Redeman has exceptional talent in her field its incredible. This year working with Mrs. Redeman, his speech has improved significantly. When he speaks, he tries to mouth and sound the words he is using. I find my son at times stopping at mid sentence to correct his own speech and that is a miracle! *** Ana Flores

My daughter has loved her Kindergarten experience at Luna. The teachers are kind and are able to teach a strong curriculum without making it too stressful. There are fun activities scattered throughout the year. I loved the Polar Express day when they got to take robes and slippers to wear! I am a big fan of standardized dress, too, and Luna has it. My daughter is looking forward to another year at Luna!

I have had children in Luna Elementary for 8 years. I believe in Luna and the quality of teachers and leadership that are a part our school. We have 'choice of school' in Garland ISD and we chose to attend Luna Elementary based on academic performance. We have an excellent Accelerated Reading program that encourages children to start reading young. If you are looking for a school that exemplifies education, leadership and pride, then you would love Luna!

I have had nothing but positive experiences with this school and that is why I chosen to keep my daughter here rather than move her to a more 'relaxed' school environment. My daughter appreciates structure and is geared to excel. I believe that is the attitude at this school as well. I am happy that her extra-curricular activities are something I participate in with her, not ones dictated by the school. She loves her teachers, her principal and her friends. Perhaps it is a little more of a structured environment than some parents like, but it does keep her focused and she loves the recognition when she does well. I have always had fun with the office staff and they are always considerate. I don't think having to sign in and wear a badge is restrictive. The only thing I would like more of is art classes.

With everything they have to deal with... I believe the teachers at luna elem. Do a great job. They may sometimes be a little stricter than i would like but the structure is great

I think the school is great. I have my second child going thru this school and I have nothing but praises for them. Their level of professionalism and commitment has been unsurpassed by any other school I have had dealings with. I will agree their extra-curricular activities are a little lacking, but they are supportive of the neighborhoods' activities. As far as being restrictive with parent volunteers, if that insures my childs safety, then so be it. I would rather see extensive and complete background checks on the volunteers than to have someone with questionable marks running loose in the school. Last but not least the Office Staff has always been courteous and friendly. Warren Dent

I would have to disagree with Mrs. Stewart s opinion. This is a top notch school that prides itself in putting your child s education first. That is what a good principal/leader does. The staff is wonderful and all the teachers are highly qualified. I really feel the teachers are sensitive and caring. My experiences with the office staff have always been positive and friendly. If you want your child to go to a school where education comes first, this would be the best in the area.

This is NOT a quality school. They focus to much on passing state testing and it is not uncommon for kids to have melt downs due to pressure put on them. They are NOT parent friendly. They will not let parents into the classroom and severly restrict parent volunteer's and have one of the rudest office staff I have ever encountered. If the statistic's were checked, you would find people who live in the surrounding neighborhood have pulled their children out and moved them to other schools, not because they qualify for a magnet, gifted school, or other choice, but because they needed an escape hatch into which to funnel their children out of their own area school. This has gone on for years. Until the priciple is removed I would not recommend this school to anyone.

This is a wonderful school, not a lot extras to choose from as far as learning activities. But the teachers are super -- the students are happy and love attending. I've had three children attend this school from two from K thru 5th grade the other from 1 thru fifth. Teaching was exceptional! They learned a lot and were all honor students! It gets straight A's!

Awesome school. Great curriculum. I wish they had an after school program. I also would like to see more teacher-parent interaction. A lot of schools are so distant these days with parents because they don't have the time or resources to make the parent feel a part of the school environment. I think the teachers really care and work hard to educate our children. I just wish I know that when I was a child in elementary school, my teachers all knew my mom on a personal level. Other than my daughter's homeroom teacher, I do not know any of her other teachers. I wish there was more of a direct connection. This is usually what happens in Middle School & High School - I know that the school is preparing the 5th graders for Middle School, but there has to be a way to re-connect the classroom with the parent.
