Hawkins was a great place to go to school - I graduated from Hawkins in 2004 - I know at the time I hated school - but now that I look back I realize what a great environment they provided for me. Teachers were very supportive and they cared about the students and their well being. I know the extracurricular activities are lacking because of funds and popularity but they are great programs that do great things with the resouces the community gives them. I plan on moving back to Hawkins just so my child can attend school there instead of an intercity school.

I, too, moved from a bigger city to put my children in Hawkins' schools. I also gave up a much higher paying job to work at Hawkins ISD. I could not disagree more with some of the comments here about the teachers and facilities. We are a wonderful community and school with caring, committed teachers and auxilary staff. Every school/community has good and bad. Hawkins is no different. Lisa Langford

There is not one teacher that stands out and does an above and beyond job. There is not enough motivation to keep smart students going. The library is a joke. There needs to be better leadership, and someone may need to motivate the teachers as well.

One of my four children are in this high school. I am more than disappointed with the attitude at this school. Everyone from the principal to the teachers to the counselor have the same excuse 'it must be that the child is lazy'. Never mind that you can get no feedback from teachers or help with testing from the counselors it is all the students fault. I have asked repeatedly to know when testing dates are and what assignments are coming up....not one time in 3 years of asking can 1 teacher take the 5 minutes to email or mail me a schedule. I have repeatedly asked for help in getting my child tested for learning problems. Still nothing...the counselor stated when I went to sign it that this was all a waste of time that my child was lazy and testing him was a waste of their time.

What I have to say about the school is,first of all the student body as a whole seem to be doing very well. I have not witnessed any severe wrong doings, nor heard of any.the sports programs really need to be commended for thier efforts and the great strides of improvement they have made.GO HAWKS. the town NOW NEEDS TO rally behind the teams and show thier support.

I went to this school and will be sending my kids to this school. The only thing I think is wrong with this school district is that they always have to get a new high school principal and a new superintendent. Other than that I like the school. It really needs more teachers though.
