Always do your homework before deciding where to send your kid. We were at this school for 3 years and 2 cahnges to the curriculum, and I must say overall I wish I would have left after the fisrt year. For the amount off the tuition, they charge the teachers are not qualified. However this year they brought in a Science teacher she is awesome, and the PE program fantastic, other than that the teachers are not hands on maybe because of the high teacher student ratio which was 18:1 in one of the 3rd grade classes.
I am very impressed how academic this school is. My children are learning so much. The teachers and staff are very supportive and helpful. I love the christian environment too. The best thing I can say about this school is that my kids are happy and proud to be students there.
The school curriculum is academically challenging. Qualified teachers. Christian, caring environment. Safe environment. Many opportunities for extra-curricular activities.
Math and English are taught thoroughly and without hesitation. Science and writing programs need a boost but they have an excellant computer class for all grades. Good school.
This school places a high priority in academics, giving students the tools they need to move into the next grade and beyond. The high school has 100% college acceptance rate. My first grader loved the Spanish, Art, Computer and Music classes. She cannot wait till third grade so she can be a part of the symphony. Parents play a big role in the involvement, voluntary projects and active PTA. I highly recommend this school and their continued exploration for learning tools and mediums.
Northland is a great school. The teachers and staff are helpful and there is a real family environment.
We have been at NCS for 6 years. We have concerns about the curriculum. It seems there is no real direction. Through the years it has become secondary and has lagged behind compared to other private and public schools. There is no emphasis on writing or composition until late in secondary education. There is also lack of supervisory aspects of teachers. They are allowed to teach what they want and when. There is no real curriculum direction. The emphasis seems to be on technology. We are wondering if technology can replace good old-fashioned teaching? It is a good enhancement, but not a substitute. We are questioning whether to leave our children. Tuition has gone up significantly and we cannot see any direct link for it to produce a better education. The organization seems top heavy. The secondary principal is wishy-washy. We question who is really in charge? Look around before committing.
I absolutely love this school. I wouldn't send my daughter anywhere else!
