I am a former student of this school and I have to say, this is one of the best school's I've been to overall :) even though I was sorta bad but, i stopped that :P I always wanted to visit because this school me made feel "fuzzy inside" because everyone had a smile on their face and we all got along :)
I am a college student who has observed at Meyer, and they are the best school I have ever been to. The teachers and staff are amazing, and the school is great.
The special education program and teacher's are awesome--I have a son in the program and I actually moved closer to be in walking distance of the school because of the Special Education Dept. The regular ed. however, has some work to do. The instruction is good but the teachers need to work on their customer service and how they speak to/with the parents.
I really appreciate Meyer Elementary. The teachers are very progressive and innovative and I am impressed daily with what my son learns in first grade. I have really enjoyed getting to know his kindergarten and first grade teacher and class. The PTO is back in action and the school also holds parent academy to help parents be more involved in our kids learning process. Overall I am very satisfied at Meyer.
This is my 4yr and 7yr olds first year in Meyer. I must say the school, teachers and principal are awsome. They have a new principal and she (yes she) has got it together. I'm realy involved at the progress of my kids and keep in touch w/the teachers if there are any concerns. So the only prob i has and was upset about was when my 4yr old had to be in bilingual. Other then that the kids love it.
Meyer school has 2 parties a year. They don't have a lot of parent involvement because the parents don't show up. There is no PTO this year because no one would volenteer. The teachers love their students and work real hard to get the parents to come to open house but many parents still don't come. This is a big school. It has like 1200 kids. This district is building new schools but not fast enough. My little girl was in reading recovery. Her teacher helped her a lot. This is a great school . The principal has been there a really long time. My kids loved it there.
Parents are discouraged from coming to the school and being a part of their childs' school life. No parties, birthday recoginition, school carnival- nothing special. I must say though, the teachers and principal are terrific.
This is a good school with an awesome principal and assistant principals. Most of the teachers are really great.
My child has been at Meyer since kindergarten. She has enjoyed most of her teachers. They have been supportive and kept me informed of her progress, grade-wise and behavior-wise. Any inconsistencies were brought to my attention. I did not appreciate one teachers way of collecting grades. She had the students grade other students work then shout out the grades when she called the names. I heard about this from other parents at the end of the school year and my child confirmed it. She didn't like the way other kids laughed when some one got a bad grade.
