Cypress Christian is an excellent school. It has a great combination of academics, athletics, and Christian values.
For new students is hard, not academically but socially for both parents and students. It seems the only want to socialize to get your money with fundraisers. My kid did not make one single friend that he can hang out after school. Academically, the do make the kids work, and but if your kid are in GT classes on an Exemplary Public School, then is about the same. Some Teachers are good, but others that have kids there are not too much into it. It seems they are just there to get the discount and don't put too much effort into it.There is a peaceful atmosphere for the kids. But they do not take constructive criticism very well, and at times are not honest with incident that happens with kids at school when they get hurt. Really is a nice school, but for the tuition we pay they should do a better job with new kids. Teacher tend to feel more comfortable with kids that have been there for awhile, like 1st grade or so. They do try to make money out of you with Tutoring that really you can do yourself at home, and maybe the kid might not needed if those teachers that are there for the discount make an extra effort for it. As a christian school, is hard to fit in.
I have been at Cypress Christian since KIndergarten, I will be going into the 9th grade next year and I wouldn't trade the last nine years for anything. Some people don't understand Cypress because they don't understand the purpose. The purpose of CCS isn't to be like a public school with Bible class. CCS is small, and we understand that. But, you can be friends with ANYONE. For example, when I walk in the hallways I wave at the seniors and they wave back at me! It is an overall friendly environment. But, just because it is a friendly place does not mean that it is perfect. Kids still go through struggles just as the teachers do. I think the most important thing at CCS is the spiritual part. Not only do I learn facts about the Bible, I learn life lessons and I think because of that, I have a very strong walk with God. The teachers are examples of what my walk with God should be like. I love this school and I never would even think about moving!!
I went to this school my entire life! I received an amazing education and am now working on my masters and will be going for my doctorate. The teachers love and care about the students. They have an amazing learning center from elementary all the way through high school. They help students who need any extra help in the classroom. Children with any form of disability. If there are ever any problems with students they are dealt with accordingly, no cheating, no bullying. I will send my children to this school, I know they will love it just as much as I did.
I went to this school and graduated from here. If I could, I would go back. This school helped me reach goals that I never thought possible. The Learning Center was amazing with awesome teachers who really care about the students. I would recommend this school to everyone, I made lifelong friends and we are still quite close today. This is the best school I was ever glad to be from.
I feel compelled to praise this school and especially their leadership and their commitment to academic excellence. Our family has attended 2 other Christian schools over the years, and this school has achieved the very difficult balance between spiritual authenticity and grace while offering challenging curriculum/academics. My children talk about how much they enjoy school incessantly, and more importantly, they are engaged in their coursework. They have a very diverse spectrum of extra-curricular offerings from sports teams to drama and debate clubs. There is something here to satisfy the interest of any student. The type of accolades our current graduates are receiving substantiates the direction our administration has pursued. I expect to see God working to continue to bless the efforts of the godly leaders of this school. CCS truly is the best kept secret in our area.
CCS is such a unique and special school because the faculty and staff are amazingly loving, nurturing, and go beyond what is expected. Rare is the school where you see teachers truly love your child and God so much that it just radiates! The curriculum is advanced, the class sizes are small, and there are so many ways for children to use their gifts from God. In elementary there are recreational soccer/ baseball teams and a running club. (Competitive teams start in 6th grade.) There are art competitions, spelling bees, science fairs, speech meets, drama and music productions, and more. I have not seen any bullying where the school we previously attended couldn't seem to get it under control. The children are taught to respect and love one another- it seems to be working. Our children moved in well after kindergarten, but were readily accepted and included with the other children. I've also been impressed with the individualized instruction- for example, three different spelling lists, different book groups etc. CCS is an amazing school. Clearly others agree, since enrollment has significantly increased again this year.
All I wanted for my child was to make one friend and to have an academically challenging year. I tried to get together with folks but went largely ignored all year. This was one of the saddest years of my child's education. There were few academic challenges and I felt very looked down on for not fitting the typical profile. I wish we could have made just one friend here - one friend makes all the difference in the world. Maybe next year will be better?
Cypress Christian School is an awesome school built on academic excellence and biblical values. Our children continue to grow everyday in their studies and in their walk with Christ. The faculty, staff and admnistrators serve whole-heartedly and are compassionate about their call to teach in a Christian environment. My kids come home better every day because of it! This school offers a family-like atmosphere with a genuine sense of community. Parental involvement is strongly encouraged and our volunteer program is thriving. The school board is a strong, highly educated group of individuals that play an important role in the success of this great school. The cirriculum is certainly challenging and the results are proven in our SAT scores and the long list of colleges our graduates attend. The co-curricular activities such as athletics and fine-arts gives students the opportunity to compete, while building a foundation on Christ. We are at CCS for the long haul and are thrilled with the return on our investment!
I attended CCS for many years, and overall I believe that it benefited me greatly. My SAT scores were much higher than the national average. I have succeeded in incredibly difficult college courses and made the Dean's List every semester at my university. I have also maintained a relationship with God in college, and that is something that I can attribute in part to CCS. I am aware that CCS is not perfect, but no school is. I would also like to point out that there are about 20 negative reviews containing all of the same grammatical mistakes. To me, these reviews were clearly authored by one or two embittered families. Those reviews are not so much a reflection on the character of CCS as on those families. Disregard the extreme reviews when looking on this site.
Not compassionate environment. It took more than one week for the principal to answer my serious concerns. Teacher never answered at all, and no follow up. One rhymed my child s name with an undergarment. My child cried all night. They made fun of my child s presentation because rhythm and movements were dancelike . Cried over this too, since we thought the presentation was unique and upbeat. My child cried the last week and did not want to go back because the project they were so proud of was not exactly right, they were the only one in class who had to haul it outside at pickup time and take it home. Very humiliating! The teacher said it was a learning experience. Many students are just plain mean to each other elementary. Classroom size is large. This is not the school for creativity or students without thick skins.
CCS has been wonderful for my daugther. She has gained confidence within herself and has grown spritually. The secondary staff could not be more supportive. There is no way we could of received such support and encouragement during difficult times. The encouragement from all the teachers and staff at the secondary level, my daughter at her own choosing feels ready to take a big step and move to a school of 3600 students. Her dicipline in studying, her faith, and her overall confidence has come from the love at CCS. You must have God in every aspect of your life to understand the teachings of CCS. It was the best choice for us.
This was the worst school of my children's education. The head of school was never involved and didn't know any of the parents or students. Though we had 2-3 excellent teachers the rest were only average or terrible. Quality of teachers is a real problem and since not accountable to any church it has so many problems academically and spiritually. Many problems too many to mention.
My son has attended this school for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I cannot wait for this year to be over and him to go to another school. The leadership is more concerned with god than academics, to the detriment of it's students. And the middle school principle needs to be removed from his position, or soon there will be no returning students to high school. Do not send you child to this school. I would give it zero stars if possible
Yes this is a very good school to get great academics and become closer to Christ, but there is a very big difference between this school and public school. Very sheltered, harder work, and very few people. there were only about 39 kids in the 8th grade last year. It got annoying seeing the same people since the 5th grade. More people are leaving than coming. its all of a matter of a opinion. I really inly liked it the first two years i was there and then dreaded the last two. I am now attending public school and feel relieved!! :D
Cypress Christian School is a great example of what a Christian School should be... I just entered my Freshman year of Highschool. Many of the teachers pray in the classroom each day. The Administrators of the school care about us and how we are learning. I would recommend Cypress Christian School to anyone.
Now that our children have graduated from Cypress we have an opportunity to fully assess the investment we made. In many ways, Cypress provided a good environment that was better than public schools. In latter years, the administration took on a more decidedly harsh tone and the keeping of rules and regulations seemed to take precedent over caring for kids. Educationally, our children probably suffered somewhat compared to the endless list of opportunities available at the resource-rich public schools. A private school simply cannot offer the breadth of educational and elective offerings of a well-funded public school system. I do not believe that our children received an educational advantage and have no proof that their college entrance scores were enhanced by their experience at Cypress. If the school can iron out its bent towards legalism, it can probably regain the qualities that attracted us in the first place.
A wonderful teaching environment. Administration and faculty communicated very well with parents. Challenging academics.
We have been at CCS for 10 years and have been through all the academic levels. We strongly support the school. There will always be some problems that will arise but that is a part of life. The school does its utmost to teach our children academically based on the love of Christ.
I would highly recommend CCS to any family seeking a truly Christian education for their children. Our family loves CCS. We are in the process of developing a long term strategic plan with input from representatives of about 30 families and our focus in on excellence in all areas: academics, spiritual growth, extracurricular activities, communication, parental involvement and overall community presence.
